The rapid testing that was supposed to be being brought in to assist T3 get their numbers down? I'm in a T3 area with numbers dramatically reducing. I didn't mind the T3 restrictions on a social level as the rapid testing I thought would be helpful. Except, the rapid testing hasn't been brought in.

Ha, we're in Leicester, tier 3 and lockdown city! We were promised these rapid tests weeks ago. I'm not surprised they haven't turned up

Aquicknamechange2019 · 07/12/2020 22:50

They've gone to care homes in Scotland apparently

MrsLJ2014 · 07/12/2020 23:03

Well they've finally arrived here on The Wirral...now we're in tier 2!! (We were in tier 3 with Liverpool before the lockdown but only the city had them then?!)

Good question! I have also been wondering, as it was sold as one of the ways out of strict lockdown, but it seems to have been overshadowed by vaccines and I have barely seen anyone mention it. As an NHS worker my trust are rolling out for staff currently but I haven’t seen any mention of it for the wider community. No word on my councils social media. I asked in a local facebook group and noone knew. I was told though that I need to exercise patience as the council cant organise things like this overnight Confused

There’s rapid testing where I live. What is worrying is that last week the local news reported 1 in 20 people who were tested were positive without symptoms.

I can’t see my city moving out of Tier 3 on the 16th.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 08/12/2020 06:16

I’m in Oldham. We’ve been in T3 for months.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 08/12/2020 06:22

Rapid testing started here yesterday weve got several pop up army run testing centers and they are currently working through keyworkers before rolling it out to the rest of us

Redcherries · 08/12/2020 09:19

I saw an update from KCC that we should have ours start in the next few weeks, but I couldn't see what date they had issued it.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 08/12/2020 09:29

We don't have them in our borough of the West Midlands (actual county) yet. Our numbers have dropped rapidly though. We were top 5 and now we're not even top 20.

randomer · 08/12/2020 09:31

T3 is so crap. mooching around freezing, muddy parks.

TheGreatWave · 08/12/2020 09:46

Well it was never going to happen, just like every other proposal that has come out of his mouth. Surely by now we should know to trust nothing he says.

whatswithtodaytoday · 08/12/2020 09:52

This is how the Johnson government works. Promise things, then quietly just... don't do them. There's no responsibly for anything.

Comefromaway · 08/12/2020 09:58

We've got it here but 100 per day and available in different community hubs between very restricted hours

A very large local college that ds attends has been offered testing for any staff and students. Ds has turned it down as he is autistic and can't administer it himself. He is thinking of going for a normal test.

Talking of which, my local authority has offered normal tests to anyone whop displays non standard symptoms eg headache or sore throat or who thinks they might have come into contact with the virus.

Chaotic45 · 08/12/2020 16:33

Here in Leicester we have been in lockdown forever and ever and ever.

No sign of rapid tests, or much in the way of help practically or financially.

People are on their knees, and have lost all faith and trust in the government, local authorities and health professionals. In many cases trust was weak to begin with, which is part of the problem.

I no longer think I can believe what I'm told and it's all feeling a bit hopeless.
