Any good news stories or advice on elderly relatives in hospital during C-19?

My MIL has been admitted to hospital in a Tier 3 area in severe pain. We don’t know how long she’ll be there but they need to do some tests.

She’s very elderly and very hard of hearing.

We’re very worried about her being there on her own, and not being able to do the sort of advocating/polite nagging you might do if someone was in hospital in normal times.

We’re also desperately worried she’ll get Covid.

Does anyone have any advice about how to help/make it better?

And any good news stories about elderly peoples who’ve gone to hospital and NOT got Covid?

This is just awful timing a couple of weeks away from a vaccine. Sad

Thanks.

My kids mobile barber was here this morning. She was telling me her grandad in his 90s caught it earlier in the year and was in hospital. He recovered and is now absolutely fine!

My 87 year old Mum very frail broke her hip in May and had a week in hospital. She had deliruim and was very unwell but did not catch covid.

She was rushed back in for 4 days a bit later on with a suspected DVT and again did not get covid. Then had to spend a couple of days having scans again has not caught Covid.

It is very worrying being at home and not being able to see our family but our experiece was that the nurses were fantastic and did everything they could to make Mum as comfortable as possible and keep us updated.

I hope you MIL feels better soon. Flowers
