Schools deemed ‘too unsafe’ for Ofsted

Ofsted will not be going into schools after Xmas and it is being hailed as something amazing! As if us teachers should bow down and be grateful. ‪This is nothing to celebrate!! Unsafe for them but ok for all of us!?! Get them all squashed into classrooms with us, let them all catch Covid like us, have a number of them fighting for their lives on ventilators like us. Shame on you Ofsted and NEU‬.

sigh

PrivateD00r · 03/12/2020 15:31

Of course they shouldn't be travelling between schools and putting further pressure on teaching staff to accommodate their visits.

PrivateD00r · 03/12/2020 15:34

And your thread title is 'fake news' Wink

Do you seriously think, that with the mixing that goes on a secondary school, a few inspectors going to different schools with usually a week or two inbetween visits is going to make much of a difference Confused

And I would put money on no schools seeing hide nor hair of an inspector until they have been safely jabbed.

That’s not even true op.....

Can you point out where in the press release it says schools are too unsafe for them to enter please?

noblegiraffe · 03/12/2020 16:02

The risk could be vice versa. There was that school that had to close after an Ofsted inspector tested positive and took out the whole of SLT.

SadSecretSanta · 03/12/2020 16:03

Ofsted are doing virtual monitoring inspections at the moment. We’ve had one this week.

Nice! All the stress for teachers with non of the risks for themselves Hmm typical

Are you going to ignore the other posts on here showing that actually you’re wrong op?

Also they are surely considering additional risk to the school as well as to themselves as Noble points out.

Yeh that was what I meant when I said travelling between schools, I meant they are the risk by moving around. The schools my DC attend aren't accepting any visitors at present. I wasn't allowed in the other day even just to collect a sick dd, they met me in the playground (I had indicated how long I would be, I don't mean they were made to be out there for ages)

I do realise though supply teachers are having to do this but I suppose it is slightly mitigated in that they are in one room in each school, and not moving freely around the building? I dunno!

oldwhyno · 03/12/2020 16:41

teachers don't want offsted on top of everything else now. inspections would be of limited value in many schools that are operating under extraordinary conditions.

TheFallenMadonna · 03/12/2020 16:43

I am grateful for no Ofsted next term, TBH.

IndecentFeminist · 03/12/2020 16:53

They can't win here to be fair. Can you imagine the uproar if they were coming in?

Chloemol · 03/12/2020 17:08

www.gov.uk/guidance/interim-phase-maintained-schools-and-academies

You are wrong. They have already started interim visits

Instead of relying on a tweet look it up on Gov.uk

CarrieBlue · 03/12/2020 17:49

Ofsted have already been in to our school to check on our covid measures and remote learning during previous lockdown.

Haenow · 03/12/2020 17:56

What a drama! Hmm

ineedaholidaynow · 03/12/2020 18:01

Haven't they changed from going into schools to doing virtual meetings/phone calls at the moment. Full inspections have been postponed until Summer 2021

SadSecretSanta · 06/12/2020 12:29

@CarrieBlue did they actually come into school? Ours was checked virtually.

CarrieBlue · 06/12/2020 12:39

@SadSecretSanta - yes, but only saw slt and didn’t go in classrooms

sunshinegirl28 · 10/12/2020 20:49

Ofsted shall be going into requires improvement and inadequate schools and nurseries next term and resuming normal inspection in summer term.
