Being anti-restrictions, anti-masks AND anti-vaccines is a bit "Darwin Awards" isn't it?

A subset of the "Let's Just Go Back To Normal" crowd, who are against the Tier Restrictions, against schools being made safer if it means changing anything, against masks, against Lockdowns and against anybody stopping them from mixing old and young indoors this Christmas are also...Against the vaccine!

Let's just say those guys are not the future of human evolution. Wink

If it was highly deadly then yes. But as it isn’t then no

lubeybooby · 03/12/2020 08:34

yes sort of except the knock on effect will likely kill off people more vulnerable than them than it does them directly

Darwin awards are for taking your own stupid self out of the gene pool, not others

Racoonworld · 03/12/2020 08:35

its also a bit stupid of the group who seem to want lockdowns and harsh restrictions imposed on us all but also don’t want the vaccine. What do they want, us all to be restricted forever?

PuzzledObserver · 03/12/2020 08:38

It appears the majority of them have already reproduced

Fallsballs · 03/12/2020 08:41

Your name is apt.

I read a funny tweet by an archaeologist - something along the lines of: say that the pyramids were build by highly educated architects and a skilled workforce and some people will refuse to believe you - but tell them it was aliens and they believe you...

Porcupineinwaiting · 03/12/2020 08:41

More eugenics than Darwin award in some cases.

middleager · 03/12/2020 08:43

Agree OP, but it's the Covid deniers who refuse to acknowledge the virus who really get my goat.

DougRossIsTheBoss · 03/12/2020 08:49

I wouldn't say Darwin awards as unless they are over 70 it's more likely they will take other people out of the gene pool (and in fact people post reproductive age) than themselves. Eugenics is more appropriate.

I would say it's Thatcherite basically.
No such thing as society. Every man for himself. I have been amazed by how selfish people are about this. Everyone sees it from the POV of the effect on them and it the bigger picture. More collective societies like China where such concepts of individual freedom are less prized are better able to deal with it. I am not saying I want to live in a communist state but I'd like to live in a more socialist one where people cared more about those less fortunate than themselves.

DougRossIsTheBoss · 03/12/2020 08:56

I also do think it's illogical to say you would refuse the vaccine and yet bleat on about restrictions. It's an either or thing.
What is your alternative plan? Presumably natural herd immunity at the cost of a known outcome of many deaths vs some unknown and very small theoretical risk from the vaccine.

No-one will be forced to have the vaccine. Boris isn't going to suddenly go all nanny state but businesses and other countries will take it into their own hands to require a certificate for you to go there or to travel as it makes business and economic sense not to risk an outbreak.
I predict that most anti vaccers will reluctantly accept it if it's the price if their summer holiday. So much for principles.

What I love is they reply to literally every social media post about what the rules are and how actually please wear a mask with a comment that is meant to be an insult about how their not a sheep often complete with 🐑 emoji, and how we should all think for ourselves.

But what they don’t realise is we have thought for ourselves and chosen to believe you know actual fact and evidence based SCIENCE!

They on the other hand are just regurgitating some random bollox they’ve read from some one very unqualified on the internet. They are actually doing what their accusing the majority of people of doing. They aren’t thinking for themselves and their blindly following and repeating stuff they see on versions memes etc so their the sheep.

megletthesecond · 03/12/2020 09:02

Yep.

Ummm .... it’s not a deadly virus to the majority of adults so not a Darwin Award winner. We’re all still here 😁

Lockdowns aren’t proven to work, masks have been demonstrably shown not to work in the real world via the Danish study and the vaccine should really be restricted to the elderly and other compromised population, and anyone who works with them, like the flu shot used to be.

Porcupineinwaiting · 03/12/2020 09:42

@c68, 000 arent still here actually. Including quite a few thousand who could reasonably have expected to be so. Hmm

alreadytaken · 03/12/2020 09:46

Plenty of studies showing masks work. A few on the studies thread but lots more now from America.

Evidence now that covid-19 gets into the testes, with possible impact on male fertility and libido. Naturally no-one has bothered to look at female fertility yet.

So if these people have not yet reproduced at least there is less chance of them doing so in future.
