Loss of taste/smell

I've both. Can anyone describe theirs? It's quite bizarre, I know I'm
eating savoury/sweet, but not quite what it is apart from the texture, and obviously visually.

I can't taste flavours, is that how it is for everyone?

I'm the same I lost my taste day 7 I've been ill all the time and am finding it very odd drinking and eating and not being able to taste anything. I'm wondering how long this will go on for?

yep it feels as though my taste buds still work, but not my sense of smell so I can detect sweet, sour, salty etc but absolutely no nuance. texture has become much more important.

@Disneydarlings I think I lost mine day 5, was difficult because I had cold like symptoms, that didn't help.

@yellowhighheels I'm so glad you said that, it's really strange trying to describe it to people. I say "I can't taste anything" which is not strictly true is it? I can taste 'something' it's just not flavour, very odd indeed

I could only taste sweet foods. I’m now 4.5 weeks in and can now taste most foods but struggle to taste spicy food! I just get the warmth from it! I am still struggling with sense of smell too!

yes Kazza I can feel chilli and also menthol in toothpaste but no other distinction between spices. I really miss garlic!

It's all quite bizarre

I only lost my sense of smell, but it meant that I could put loads of mustard on a sandwich and it wouldn't have the normal nose-burning effect. It was very weird 😕

When I had it I was eating curry but could not taste it! It was annoying and awful!! I lost appetite due to this and felt so weak. I never coughed once though
