When do you think mass vaccinations will start in the UK?

They’ve started getting mass centres ready in cities so I imagine soon

I was told that the NHS was told to be ready to go on 1st December.
There’s been a big campaign to look for staff to vaccinate.

Aren’t we still waiting for the vaccines to be approved though?

(finger in the wind) about 15 December. But that's only carehomes, care home staff, & NHS frontline staff. People in community more like 15 January start (or later).

Then it’s missed rhe media then and not one person has publicly stated they are being vaccinated.

I’m sorry but I don’t believe it. If anyone was being booked in for vaccinations we would know.

I’ve applied to become an nhs vaccinator.
The closing date is the 31st jan which surprised me.

My trust has gone a bit quiet after saying 1st week of Dec but I know a GP who says he’s booked in for next week ?? I guess they’ll just move appointments if not ready.

They can still recruit vaccinators once the program has started.
I read somewhere (can't remember where, so pinch of salt time)
Care homes and NHS beginning Dec
Over 80s mid Dec
75- 80 end Dec
60 and over and CV Jan
50 and over early Feb
Then everyone else, most non vulnerable during march

I wouldn't have it as soon as it comes out. I wouldn't want to be one in the first herd to get a brand new vaccine.

Do people think they will be able to find enough guinea pigs to try them out on? Will have to be a very high number if only 90% effective.

All being well, NHS are due to start vaccinating staff from the end of next week/ start of following week. There's a monumental amount of planning going on. Just waiting for the green light (vaccine to be approved) and it's all systems go.

Which vaccine is going to be administered by next week? Pfizer hasn't been approved and Oxford seem to have ballsed up their trial so are having to re-trial.

I'd be surprised if mass vaccinations occur for Joe public including care homes before Easter.

I guess it depends on how quickly they approve the vaccine. It’s hasn’t happened yet so next week seems very soon.

I sensed a bit of back tracking today in the press conference. Disappointing. I think the approval stage may take longer than we thought.
