I'm in tier 3 now, our horse has come into season recently and is ready to be mated but we need to travel out of area to do this.

Now I know it's not essential travel before anyone flames me I'm just looking for clarification whether I can take my horse to be mated as I can't find any rules on "livestock" obviously social distancing etc would occur between people (not the horses hopefully lol)

No abuse needed, two front line nhs workers in this household so we know the rules regarding people etc.

That is a good question because it can be transmitted via animals. I would ask a vet if I was you.

OverTheRainbow88 · 26/11/2020 13:21

I thought you could travel for work... breeding animals to sell is work?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 26/11/2020 13:21

Also interested as we need to collect our new puppy, we'll be tier 2.

Now I know it's not essential travel

So you know it's not permitted.

My daughters mare went to stud in June, she was artificially inseminated, there wasn’t any issues with going travelling to a different county for her stay at the stud farm. Personally I would be more concerned about having such a young foal going into winter next year.

Toilenstripes · 26/11/2020 13:25

It’s not essential, so no, you can’t load up your horse and drive her to wherever she would go for mating. Stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives.

It’s not illegal. It’s a ‘shouldn’t’ rather than a ‘must not’.

Thanks all
