Will Boris Johnson's clever wordplay cut through?

Some will take no notice but with things opening up next week, Christmas festivities, new year parties and schools and Uni back in Jan, January is going to be dire.

He also said “squeeze the disease” who writes this stuff? Is it him?

Dongdingdong · 24/11/2020 21:57

Whoever came up with that is genius Grin

cardibach · 24/11/2020 22:01

Clever word play? Really?
Johnson’s is a twat. His speech writer is shit. At least Cummings could do a 3 word slogan. They can’t even manage that now. Pitiful.

EffOrf · 24/11/2020 22:08

Prefer JVT and his metaphors, he is my absolute favourite

Jrobhatch29 · 24/11/2020 22:09

I dont think it's clever either I think it is embarrassing. Why does he need to talk to us like kids, like we only understand stupid phrases? Tis the season to be careful, squeeze the disease, hands face space.... Not so long ago he was on about bugles tooting! It's no wonder nobody takes it seriously

RigaBalsam · 24/11/2020 22:12

And put the coronavirus back in it box and we can here the hooves over the hill or something like that.

EffOrf · 24/11/2020 22:13

I think the phrases is something he has always done, I’m sure people don’t write it, why would they, some people just do this, it’s quite annoying.

BeckyWithTheGoodHair5629456 · 24/11/2020 22:18

Has anyone read the Facebook comments on the government pages? Those people are exactly the reason why he has to talk to us the way he does. Had no idea that people were so stupid before I looked at those comments Shock

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 24/11/2020 22:29

Buffoonish wordplay has worked for him at the ballot box, I can’t see why he would give it up now.

Dee1975 · 25/11/2020 06:46

Well, whether you like them or not ... they have worked as you remember them ...

WhoopsSomethingWentWrong · 25/11/2020 06:48

Clever wordplay?!
I thought this was going to be a thread about what a cunt Boris is with his ridiculous sound bites.
Disappointed.

I'm a bit of a fan of 'Dad jokes' so it's ok by me. it will cut through.

squeezethedisease · 25/11/2020 10:45

its nonsense. we are not bothering with Christmas this year, just hunkering down until there is a vaccine. Not seeing anyone who does not live with us and that includes 2 of our adult children who live in other parts of the country. It is not worth the risk, I have health problems. It will be Christmas by Skype. Grin

countrygirl99 · 25/11/2020 11:03

Maybe if he talked to the electorate like adults instead of a Y1 teacher at story time he might be more effective.

PicsInRed · 25/11/2020 15:04

I always expect him to chuck the chin of the nation and ask us to pull his finger.

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2020 15:05

Well he's not wrong is he?

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 25/11/2020 15:06

Well, we've all remembered the phrase!

And he said it just after an 'alas' - was anyone playing the Boris Bingo Drinking Game? And if so, how's your liver this morning?
