I just can't understand this.

Mohamed Salah first tested positive while on international duty with Egypt on November 13 and is set to miss Liverpool's Premier League match against Leicester City on Sunday, live on Sky Sports Premier League

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny will fly back to the UK on a private jet from Egypt on Friday after returning further positive tests for coronavirus, according to the Egyptian Football Association.

Both players have been self-isolating after testing positive while on international duty and were checked again on Thursday, returning another positive swab.

Salah, who initially tested positive for coronavirus last Friday, has missed Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations two qualifiers against Togo.

Footballers do not have to abide by the rules that the rest of us do op, haven't you gotten the memo

They have been flying to different countries due to the Champions League and Nations League without ever having to isolate on arrival or return

Just recently Croatian footballer found out he tested positive during half time, right after he was hugging other players because they scored a goal. None of the players he hugged had to isolate

One rule for us, another one for them and then some people get shocked when they see others are not complying. There is only so long people can be taken for fools!

@HumanFemale1 Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@HumanFemale1 I do get that footballers/elite sports people have different rules.

They have to has remain in an intentional football travel corridor, which would allow thrm to steer clear of strict rules that order anyone returning from abroad into the UK to self-isolate for 14 days.

However in this case, Salah also attended his brothers wedding!!!!

He ought to be refused entry, as he is purposively doing this.

To be fair to individual footballers, the majority of the blame for these situations has to sit with the governing bodies. How can they justify international fixtures at the moment, encouraging international travel and bringing hundreds of footballers together outside of their normal club bubbles.

This was bound to happen. The England team continued to train and play another match even after some of them spent 90 min on a pitch with an Irish player who tested positive after the game!

Agree totally. I think with the Salah case it's clear he hasn't stuck to an international corridor, attended a wedding, contracted the virus. He shouldn't be allowed to fly to England until tested negative and be made to isolste for 14 days

I do agree that it’s questionable whether he should have attended a wedding, I understand that the wedding was within Egyptian Covid rules but he has certainly taken advantage of the timing of his international duties to enable him to attend.

I believe he is to be tested on arrival in the UK so will be interesting to see whether he continues to isolate even if test is now negative. I’m a big Liverpool fan so would love to see him play this weekend but it wouldn’t be morally right and also risks the rest of the team.
