Can you legally pick up items from Wales?

My grandfather who lives in Wales just died. I live in England. Is it legal for me to pick up items from his house which we are now selling? If there is an exception for this I can't tell what it is.

No I dont think so. Sorry.

I can go to the funeral though legally. Is it really banned for me then to drive to the house to get things?

I would just do it to be honest.

The border is closed except for certain reasons. I believe you can to facilitate a house move, I’d argue it’s ok as the house is being emptied for sale. However be prepared to be stopped and asked for evidence.

I live in Wales and we are not in lockdown so if you are travelling over for the funeral there shouldn't be a problem with you stopping at the house. I've not seen people getting pulled over and questioned anywhere, I've worked the whole way throughout and not got asked where I was going. It's better to do it all in one trip rather than do another one to come back to the house once lockdown in England is over surely?
