Tests carried out bin hospital

So my baby was tested in hospital last night. They said the hospital would call me with 24-48 hours. I know normally you get contacted via email at any time but has anyone been tested in hospital and if so would it be a 9-5 contact thing?

I was tested in a hospital routinely and was contacted next day just under 24 hours by telephone. Not sure if it’s only 9-5 as my contact was at 9:30 am.

I got tested in hospital. They never rang. I needed to speak to my gp anyway and she told me it was negative but said if it was positive the hospital would have rang me.

Dsis was tested in hospital last week and she got discharged before the results. They told her that she will be contacted only if she tests positive. This was in addition to the tested they did when she was admitted. Anyway she wasn’t contacted so we were assuming she was negative. She got re admitted three days later and that result is negative.

Oh no you're joking!! So what am I supposed to do... isolate for perhaps no reason?! I have 2 young children I can't isolate them if I don't need to!
Would my doctors have the result?

It’s not been 48 hours yet so the hospital could still contact you tomorrow, no?

Yes that's right! But I was just worrying as others said they won't contact if it's negative...!

I think if I hadn’t heard by 48 hrs I would ring the GP as a first port of call - I think they would possibly be able to see the results & certainly would be able to guide you to the right contact if not.

Totally get that you would want to know as the hospital didn’t say you’d only be heard if he’s positive!

Yeah they just said to me that someone would be in touch within 24-48 hours... but I'd kind of hoped it would be within 24 hours 🙈
The doctors are due to call me about Jim tomorrow so I'll ask them then!

Was he showing cv symptoms or was it just a routine test? Surely if no symptoms you won't need to isolate anyway.?

He had a temp of over 40 so the doctors sent me to a and e! His temp has gone now and no other symptoms but obviously we can't come out of isolation until we have a negative test and it seems crazy that they might have the result now and I could be isolating for no reason! We live with my mum and dad at the minute and my dad is self employed which just adds frustration to the situation!
Sorry if I sound grumpy. It's been a long day 🙈

november90 we had a test done Friday 8am for my son, the result was apparently on the system by Friday 8pm, but it took until Tuesday morning for it to be given to us! My DH is a keyworker so we thought it would happen quicker...

You are joking@borageforager !! How frustrating for you? Is everyone ok?
My sons temp is back tonight after a bad night. My eldest had tonsillitis about 10 days ago so I'm pretty confident it must be that and not Covid..... I just wish I could take him out for some fresh air!

Yeah, everyone is fine. My 5 year old had a chest infection with a cough, so it was definitely the right thing to get him tested, but it was just an ordinary chest infection. Hope you get contacted soon!

Arent you meant to isolate for 14 days after discharge anyway in case you pick up covid in hospital? Would only be 10 dyas from test if positive

We didn't go on the ward so they said we only needed to isolate if positive! Still no result. The doctors just told me it might be a week!!! WHAT!!!

As in inpatient they rushed mine as baby was in NICU so got my second one of them back in 8 hours, my first took a bit longer.

We go in for a routine overnight stay next week (it's on a sleep unit as opposed to ward, each room is ensuite). I will be tested upon arrival. Wonder how long it will take for results to come back? And what happens if I were to be + ?

Do they lock me up for 14 days? Grin

You can still go into your garden (if you have one) for a bit of air & play for your older child.

I rang up the Covid ward and they gave me my results! My dad had a job on tomorrow so we just needed to known thank god it's negative, phew! Now just need my baby to get and stay better ❤️
