If your child has had covid, what symptoms did they have?

Just out of interest really.
DS is unwell, I don't think it's covid but got him tested because there's covid in his school.

I've just been reading that kids don't get the classic fever and cough, so I wondered what MN'ers kids have experienced?

My DC had a temp first of all, noticed it when they got in bed with me in the night although didn't have a thermometer, slight cough but not really at all, a runny stuffy nose

basically classic cold symptoms and barely unwell at all, the only reason I got tested was because I was worried if I didn't school would make them be off for 14 days, thought I'd get a test, it would be negative and they wouldn't miss any school!

Did you go on to catch it from them?

She didn't show any symptoms at first except tiredness, but we were told by public health england to have her tested (one of our household works for them and had already tested positive). Whilst waiting for results she developed a slight cough, paler than usual and for a child that is very active she was just sat in a blanket exhausted.

Constant coughing for the asthmatic one and tummy pain and diarrhoea for the other younger one.

@JuliaJohnston no I did not, but I did catch it about 3 months after from work, so I would have been susceptible to it when he had it, I had a test at same time as him and was negative, you could argue I could have caught it after the negative and not had symptoms but because I caught it a few months later from work I highly doubt this.

He was around me and his dad while he was 'contagious' and we didn't change our behaviour for most of that time as we didn't think he had it so we were still sharing a bed some night, snuggles, kisses, close contact, general lower hygiene standards of a child (having to remind him to cover his mouth when coughing etc)

A few people had to isolate due to his positive and as far as we know (unless caught but no symptoms) he didn't pass it on to anyone

13yo dd - classic cold. Headache, stuffy sinuses, runny nose, ear pain. Only tested as she was up at 2am with sinus pain and congestion and felt feverish. Temp was normal by morning. Remained like that for 4 days before developing stomach pain, vomiting, chills, diarrhoea and the headache went from bad to awful.

9yo DS - lack of appetite, fever, chills, sneezing, ear pain. Same as dd, he took a turn for the worse on day 6 or so and ended up very poorly with a secondary infection.

Neither one had a cough or loss of smell/taste. Both are still tired and taking some time to recover but are getting there!

Ah, thanks. I've got two ds's self isolating at the moment, I really want to avoid us all going down together if they end up testing positive!

Show of hands, that sounds awful! Did you catch it as well?
Not the mild illness that dc are supposed to get!!??

That's good to hear.

Ds1 - a hoarse voice and tickly cough that would come on in the evenings, plus being exhausted for a few days.

Ds2 (suspected) - blistered toe

17 yr old D's had temperature for 24 hours and a slight headache for the same time.
Got him tested thinking it would be negative, came back positive but none of us caught it.
Dd14 and ds12 both have sore throats but nothing else so am wondering if they should be tested. My sister's say yes, my husband's saying no.
