I think even 90% is good enough, I’m hoping that the Oxford jab will be easier for us to get hold of more quickly, since maybe other countries will already have ordered the others. Not sure that’s how it works though πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚

We have pre-ordered enough of the Oxford vaccine to cover 50 million people.

If all six of the horses we have backed come home, we have more than double what we need.... so could share some with other countries.

I believe the Oxford vaccine is significantly cheaper than the two which have already reported, and also keeps at normal fridge temperature, I think - 2 big advantages.

I think the Moderna one that this thread is about can be stored in a normal fridge, but I don’t think we have ordered any, or at least ordered early enough to get any for a few months.

Isn’t it AMAZING!! Scientists rock πŸŽ‰

some vacs need double dose which would mean if ordered 50 then only 25 would be getting it

What is good about the moderna one is that it needs to be stored at -20 oposed to -80 which is more difficult to be kept at. it needs 2 doses 1 month apart I think I've seen

what is bad about this one is that the uk doesnt have any doses agreed yet with moderna tho they were getting some I believe

@PuzzledObserver - where did you read that?

We didn't order Moderna
Apparently we have now
5m doses
Will be spring 21 for it to get to Europe

Sunshinegirl82 · 16/11/2020 19:50

@EasterIssland

The government have preordered 100 million doses of the Oxford vaccine so enough for 50 million people even with 2 doses required. I'm keeping everything crossed!

Which bit?

Most likely on the BBC website or something linked from it. 100 million doses - enough for 50 million people. I had t seen the bit about that not all being for UK use before, though.
