Covid symptoms in children?

Are covid symptoms in children different to those in adults?
I had symptoms last week but tested negative, dd2 now has a high temp and diarrhoea, do I need to get her tested? She has ASD and getting swab is going to be tricky, not sure I can get a home testing kit.

Yes if she has a temperature. Kids often seem to get stomach issues too

I heard rashes were common in children as well.DD had a rash last week and I kept her off school and asked the dr about it and asked if they would advise getting a test but they said it looked like an allergy, and said we didnt need to test (Shes not allergic to anything that we know of) It cleared up after a day and i sent her back to school.
DS school sent an nhs link titled "covid symptoms in children" I clicked thinking it might be different and it was word for word the same as all the other info eg cough, temp or loss if smell and taste.i thought it was bit pointless to have a specific page if all info was the same as the general info.

Looks like I will have to book her a test tomorrow, I haven’t got a thermometer (have ordered one from Amazon) but she feels warm to touch. She’s been on and off the loo all day but seemed fine in her self until this evening, now she’s led on the sofa looking pale and sounds a bit snotty. She’s 14 but because of her ASD it’s hard for her to tell me how she’s feeling.

Any tips on swabbing a child with ASD gratefully received, I’m on my own so have no one to hold her down.

My ds tested positive last Wednesday for covid. His symptoms were high temp bad headache and a funny feeling of coldness in his nose. No cough in sight. He did lose his sense of smell but has gotten that back today.
Would your daughter watch a film on a tablet or phone while you do the swab?
Maybe ring the covid helpline and see if the people at the test centres are able to help you with the swab?

She is over 12 so they can take the swab. I took my daughter to a drive through test today. She sat in the passenger seat. The woman swabbed her through the window while I held her head still from the back seat. I. Had to climb though because you aren’t allowed extra people in the car. It was very quick and the woman very calm and reassuring. My daughter has a different disability though.

My daughter will put up a good fight, they were unable to get pre med into her before surgery last year and had to pin her down to knock her out. I have never successfully got any medicine into her mouth without getting kicked and punched. She’s fully aware of what will happen, I have explained it to her, all I can do is hope she complies but it’s highly unlikely. I will see how she is in the morning and what symptoms she actually has because some times she has these symptoms when she has a UTI.
