Can you lose your sense of taste with a bit of a cold?

DD is blowing her nose a bit but isn’t completely bunged up.

She said she couldn’t taste her dinner (pasta with tomato sauce with chargrilled peppers and capers).

I think she probably needs a test. But I’m wondering if the taste loss of because of her cold. But she’s not that snotty.

What do you think? I have lost all perspective.

I started with a headache and a runny nose, I lost my sense of smell and taste and tested positive. Definitely get a test.

Get a test.

Get a test.

Test. It was the tell tale sign for DP testing positive.

Another one saying get a test, I often lose my sense of smell and taste with a cold but if it happened now I’d get tested.

Hm, well even though that was a mixed bag or responses (Wink) I’ve booked a test for the morning.

I tested positive last Thursday and that was my only symptom of the main three. Still not got my taste or smell back over a week later (noticed it had gone on the Wednesday evening but had started with an ache all over my nose and eye sockets a couple of days prior which I assumed to be a head cold).

ThisMustBeMyDream · 13/11/2020 21:20

@Coolcatsandkittens that was DP's exact description too. He tested positive last Friday after symptoms started weds night. He hasn't got his sense of taste or smell back yet either, and he is so sad for that reason alone!

Me and dh tested positive with this symptom thinking we just had a cold too

PrincessButtockUp · 14/11/2020 10:12

During first lockdown this was the symptom I had that worried me. I got tested as a result and it was negative.

GreyishDays · 14/11/2020 10:50

Test done and she’s back in bed. Smile

OP my friend posted on fb a few days ago "This head cold is doing my head in". The next day she lost her sense of smell and has had a positive test.
