What's going on in Leicester? They've had restrictions imposed since the summer yet their rolling rate is still 440 per 100,000.

I'm sorry that people find the time of this thread distasteful but hiding from the problems won't help.

The Asian population of leicester are a huge asset and their values are absolutely something to value and to learn from. However, at this time when social distancing is out only hope, these same values become a problem.

The areas of concern are not inky those with cramped living and unreasonable working conditions. There is also an issue in areas of great affluence- here you still have multigenerational households living in enormous expensive homes. Huge gatherings are their cultural norm and ingrained into their way of life. As is at least daily visits to their palaces of worship, where people congratulate in large numbers for prayer and to support one another.

This is where the problem lies.

What's the difference between Leicester and, say, Luton for example with similar demographics? Luton have done a good job in handling Covid.

@User158340 I'm from Leicester and not Luton so I don't know.

However I guess that lumping the two places together simply due to the proportion of an ethnicity is overly simple.

Each place will have a different community.

I do know that Leicester's Asian community tend to all live in a few distinct places, and within these their values and culture dominate and haven't been diluted by people who live differently. I heard an interesting programme about it in radio 4.

Please let me be clear. I'm proud of the Asian population in our city. They are wonderful people- fun, friendly, family orientated, open people with a strong sense of community and charity. But their values seem to be working against them.
