Hello! 3 days into my Dd's self isolation due to a dinner lady coming down with covid. We're already fraying around the edges! Hit me up with your best at home activities?!

Have got the basis covered, some set school work, crafts, baking, story time, toys on rotation, out in the garden... I suppose I'm hoping for your stand out winners!!!

Cosmic yoga is great - lovely storytelling, plus keeps them active. All types of stories are done.

PeachiceT · 12/11/2020 20:44

Mindful colouring
Make your own comic book
Create a story
Make a minecraft world
Movie day
Christmas card list
Origami
Order some bits to make your own nature area - paint your own bee / butterfly houses

Poppystars · 12/11/2020 22:24

Reading eggs usually have a free few weeks - it has maths, reading, phonics and games linked to each area. It starts by doing a quiz so puts you at the level you are on. If want an activity that keeps them engaged by the novel factor which has some learning focus.

Christmaspud20 · 12/11/2020 22:33

Salt dough tree decs lots of ideas online

Start making Xmas cards

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 12/11/2020 22:35

Stop Motion Studio - do some googling around it. Kept my 5 year old busy for weeks during the last lockdown. You need to show them how to set it up, then they can just go.

covetingthepreciousthings · 12/11/2020 22:38

Do you have a printer? Have a look at Twinkl and print out some colouring sheets etc, they have quite a lot of free resources available.

It's really hard, we've got one in 14 day isolation too now, don't feel too bad if you end up sticking a movie on some days to fill the afternoon..

Myunhappyfeet · 12/11/2020 22:38

Mine loves a treasure hunt - takes some time to set up but you could do it the evening before to buy time in the day.

Ratatcat · 13/11/2020 06:59

Week 1 was fine but week 2 has seen everyone getting very annoyed and fed up. So, leave some of the good stuff until next week. Home schooling from day 10 onward needed bribery and my daughter is now bouncing off the walls. Good luck!

Lots of colouring, lots of tv and cosmic yoga. We’ve hidden quite a few things to find as treasure hunts. No standout winners tbh.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/11/2020 07:10

Ds is on day 3 today, but toddler in tow.

I'm making salt dough Xmas decs, and this weekend I might try to create a fire pit outside in an old bbq for marshmallows etc.

I'm going to do some gardening while they roll around on the grass.

Online art things like Rob biddulph.

Reading eggs is great. Ds is actually finding it really challenging at the mo and properly learning from it.

DipSwimSwoosh · 13/11/2020 07:14

At 6 I would start preparing for Christmas. Make decorations.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/11/2020 07:26

Yep I'm also getting him
To weigh the fruit for the cake for soaking.

Indecisivelurcher · 13/11/2020 08:24

Some good ideas here thanks folks. I don't have a printer unfortunately! We love Cosmic yoga. Think a treasure hunt is on the cards for tomorrow and planting bulbs on Sunday.

Is stop motion studio an app? @RuleWithAWoodenFoot

Dd has actually got a cough today so just hoping she's not going to have come down with covid. Fingers crossed for snot 😂
