Positive cases - how many in your house got it?

trunumber · 07/11/2020 12:19

Am waiting test results (mild cough)

If someone in your house tested positive, how many others caught it and how close was your contact?

Am trying to distance from DH but we have a 3 year old son running between us.

Should I be wearing a mask at home?

Four in our house and we all caught it - by the time we knew, it was too late

trunumber · 07/11/2020 13:11

That's my worry, that it's too late. Anyone else?

There's teen ds and me in the house. We've both had it but not from each other. I got it back in March (yes confirmed) he got it September/October.

When I had it one of my adult dd's spent a lot of time here to help out - she was living alone and wfh - she didn't get it from me. She got it around July when wfh was reduced.

Greyshaggyrug · 07/11/2020 13:18

My best friend had it but none of her children or husband. Another friend but neither of her children or husband. My brother in law has it but not my sister in law. That’s the only 3 people I know.

trunumber · 07/11/2020 13:23

Thanks everyone. It's so crazy isn't it, it seems so random. I co-sleep with DS so don't share a bed with DH.

Such a confusing virus ...

8 in the house, 5 caught it.

CarryOnWalking · 07/11/2020 13:28

Good friend of mine had it. Her dh and children didn’t get it.

SpookyNoise · 07/11/2020 13:29

All three of us.

BikerWife · 07/11/2020 13:32

5 in house, 1 caught it (positive test & symptoms)

DIL (24) was the positive, shares a bed and En suite with DS (25) and close contact throughout. He had negative test and has no antibodies.

DH, Me & DD (19) no symptoms & negative swabs. I'm a nurse, no antibodies. DD & DH never tested for antibodies so possibly asymptomatic but unlikely. close contact until we knew DIL was poorly, then tried tp distance a bit.

MrsMiaWallis · 07/11/2020 13:34

8 in my dds shared house. 5 got it, 3 didn't including her boyfriend Confused

MrsMiaWallis · 07/11/2020 13:34

Sorry meant to say dd got it.

SlipperyLizard · 07/11/2020 13:37

DH has had a positive test this week, I feel fine so do the kids, but that doesn’t mean we’re not asymptomatic. DH barely has any symptoms, we were shocked when it came back positive. No distancing here, as thought it was nothing. Too late now!

I don’t want to get a test without symptoms as it will potentially mean someone who needs one can’t, but I’d be really interested to know.

trunumber · 07/11/2020 14:06

I hope all those who tested positive are doing as well as possible.

Six in the house. Only I caught it

tattooedmummy1 · 07/11/2020 14:42

Only me Hmm I had a positive result, then developed symptoms.

DH and DS both swabbed neg.

However, I strongly believe DS bought it home from school and just had very mild or no symptoms? He was complaining of a headache, tummy ache, and was just a bit off colour. But he had a runny nose. Not the big symptoms to watch for.

I only developed one of the big symptoms to watch for, AFTER my swab returned positive.

ScottishStottie · 07/11/2020 14:45

I tested positive this morning, dps came back negative. But he was the one that got the exposure notification to self isolate. Then that same evening i started coughing.

Passthecake30 · 07/11/2020 14:47

It’s interesting to read cases where people haven’t caught it, living in the same house. There’s so much hype around that it’s super contagious, and this disproves it to some extent surely.

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 07/11/2020 14:50

DH caught it from - we think - a 5 minute exposure in a shared office kitchen.

He was really bloody ill for more than 2 weeks :(

I had a sore throat for a couple of days and random chilblains appeared on my toes. Nothing else.

Two of the kids had runny noses and one of these had a headache.

The other two had no symptoms at all.

Who knows how many of us caught it? Unless we all get antibody tested - and even then not 100% accurate - we'll never know for sure.

duckme · 07/11/2020 14:53

2/5 in our house.

kazza446 · 07/11/2020 14:57

I’m currently on day 5 of isolating after positive diagnosis. At the moment, no one else in the house has it. We are a family of 6. At the moment everyone else Is fit and well.

It's interesting you say your kids had headache /runny nose aswell.

I had my antibodies test yesterday (3 weeks after my posivite covid swab) and it was negative. I have a friend up north who had covid in june and she also has no antibodies, but her mam (who also had covid) does have antibodies.

trunumber · 07/11/2020 15:00

For those replying, how well did the positive person isolate?

OP posts:
Littlebelina · 07/11/2020 15:00

Ds only one confirmed to have had it in this house. Rest of us still OK (been a week), we think dh had it in March but don't know for definite. If dd or I have/had it we haven't shown symptoms

Littlebelina · 07/11/2020 15:01

Ds is 9, only one bathroom not been isolating from us at all.

Pumpkinstace · 07/11/2020 15:05

My 6 year old got it, the 4 year old and me and dp didn't.
