Shielders - has anyone not received a letter for this lockdown?

I received a letter during the first wave but nothing as of yet for the second. Just wondering if they are either still being churned out or I've been forgotten..

I got an email this time, I think most people did so perhaps worth checking your spam folder in case?

bestbefore · 06/11/2020 08:26

Someone I know received one this week saying wfh.

Apandemicyousay · 06/11/2020 08:26

When Boris first announced the second lockdown, said there wouldn’t be Shielding like before. However, there was updated announcement early this week advising previously shielded to stay at home and that previous priority shopping etc would still be there if you’ve registered. So I’m not sure you should expect a letter. There will be ‘new shielders’ since the first wave (new cancer patients etc) and hopefully they’ll be identified.

JamieLeeCurtains · 06/11/2020 08:31

I haven't either.

I've still got the vague shielding letter from my Rheumatology Dept sent out in April (I think), which lists various drugs and therapy combinations and co-morbidities and which says 'if you're on X with Y or Z then you are ECV ...', and which effectively leaves it to the patient to work out if they should be shielding it not.

I have received nothing from my GP and nothing from the hospital dept which prescribed my immune suppressant treatment in July (Derm).

Mindymomo · 06/11/2020 08:34

They said there wouldn’t be letters sent this time, but emails have been sent to those needing to shield. I think those who don’t have email accounts, doctors and consultants have been sending letters. There is a list on gov.uk for those who should be shielding this lockdown.

helloxhristmas · 06/11/2020 08:37

My mil hasn't got anything this time round yet. My step dad received a letter yesterday and a friend got a text the night before so they are sending them out in a variety of ways.

Cookerhood · 06/11/2020 08:38

DH got an email yesterday

HerculePoirotsGreyCells · 06/11/2020 08:40

I got an email too. Did you register on the gov website during the last lockdown? The email originates from there rather than your GP.

JamieLeeCurtains · 06/11/2020 08:41

My GP and the hospital trust all have my mobile number and email address as well as postal address but there's been nothing.

Like @Apandemicyousay says, there are now 'new shielders' like me who started treatments since the summer - many of whom don't have priority slots etc and no actual proof we should be shielding.

JamieLeeCurtains · 06/11/2020 08:46

'New shielders' weren't shielding then so wouldn't have registered, though.

I looked at the Gov website a few days ago and it said if you need to shield your doctor will tell you.

It's quite obvious to me I need to shield but no doctor has yet contacted me so I have no proof.

Ponoka7 · 06/11/2020 08:50

I've had an email and text. This was the text.

You have been identified as someone previously shielding or Clinically Extremely Vulnerable. The guidance for you is changing from tomorrow

www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19

Government will be writing to you shortly with more details. Please consider what arrangements you need to make to ensure you have a regular supply of essential supplies and food.

You can register for support at www.gov.uk/coronavirus-shielding-support

Last time I was missed of the shielding list by mistake. It was only when I needed antibiotics (they think I did actually have Covid) that I was added.

I was looking forward to the testing here in Liverpool, but all of the test dites are two buses away. It's been really badly planned for none car drivers.

Beclam · 06/11/2020 09:04

I got an email Wednesday evening

iVampire · 06/11/2020 09:21

I got a text from my local council telling me how to access support services 2 days ago (inc help getting priority supermarket slots if you don’t already have one)

And the standard email yesterday

No hard copy letter (though I suppose one might turn up idc)

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 06/11/2020 09:38

I was shielding last time and I'm still on the same medication.

I've not had any texts or emails. I did ring my GP surgery yesterday afternoon to ask advice and the receptionist was quite rude to me. She didn't take my name and has no idea what meds I'm on. I was told off for ringing and was told the Government would tell me if I needed to shield so just carry on as normal unless I hear otherwise.

Confuzzlediddled · 06/11/2020 09:38

ive not had anything, the last letter i had was the one saying shielding was extended until 1st august, i have supermarket priority as well - even though asda initially provided free delivery and are now charging for it!

im WFH anyway, no different from the rest of my company so in reality i dont think the letter/email would tell me anything i dont already know, im pretending not to have to stay 2m away from my family again!!

None if other supermarkets provided recurring slots or free delivery though. And you may well find the delivery charge has been refunded. Mine was 😊
Bagelsandbrie · 07/11/2020 07:52

I got an email. The email said my details would be passed on to the supermarkets for priority slots. I got a letter first time round.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 07/11/2020 07:59

I got an email yesterday. I finished my chemo and radio in June. So I'm not sure I should have got it?

As it is I was due to go back to work and start my training on Monday. Had a Covid test at work yesterday and a bubble was being arranged.

Now I don't know what to do.

MoirasRoses · 07/11/2020 08:03

It’s different isn’t it now? It’s only the extremely clinically vulnerable? Whereas in March it was anyone clinically vulnerable. My mum is on steroids & clinically vulnerable but not extremely CV. Her consultant has said her category don’t fall into the new shielding rules but did advise her to take major caution..

MereDintofPandiculation · 07/11/2020 10:13

I wish they'd email everyone who got a shielding letter last time and tell them whether they're included or not this time. DH got a letter last time but nothing this. So do we assume the first was a mistake? Or is missing him out this time a mistake?

Onmyown1 · 07/11/2020 11:05

I was shielding previously and definitely still ecv. I have received nothing this time around. Had a telephone appointment scheduled with my oncologist yesterday and she didn’t even realise letters were being sent. She told me to shield anyway.

TheHobbitMum · 07/11/2020 11:09

I haven't received a letter but received an email Thursday night with my letter attached. I think the criteria has slightly changed this time round if you haven't a letter maybe call your doctor Monday?

Bubblemonkey · 07/11/2020 16:43

I've had nothing bar a letter late july-ish time to say I hadn't been deshielded.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 07/11/2020 16:48

I got an email during the week from Matt & Bob.
Shielding was always only the ECV Moira. The CV were supposed to be careful but weren't in the shielding group for priority and council help.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 07/11/2020 19:30

Our Asda free delivery pass has been extended. Although they are so shit I wouldn't bother if we had to pay.
Dh got an email.
