CEV pupils and school staff can now work from home

Formal confirmation that - in England - Clinically Extremely Vulnerable children and staff will be allowed to work from home during Lockdown 2, with children receiving online learning support.
Obviously, this will be a big relief to some families, and this is a nationwide approach.
Points to note, however:

  • GP's are reassessing who is considered to be CEV according to new guidelines. Some Local Authorities appear to be more relaxed than others, and you may need to speak to your GP to ensure you have up to date confirmation of the status of your/your child's CEV status before your school will accept the evidence.
  • It could be argued that this approach does not go far enough. It has been made clear that those children with CEV parents are still expected to attend school, and there is no confirmation how this works with siblings.

But good news for many worried people.

Great news and should have been allowed from the start. About a third of DS's class are off now, safer for them and their families and safer for staff and pupils like my DS who need to be in school.
