Christmas tv adverts this year

How will covid affect them? Will the struggling John Lewis do an advert on a budget this time ? Will they even do one at all if non essential shops stay closed.
Sainsbury’s and the supermarkets will have loads of profits to throw at a big fancy advert .

Would they be cashing in on grief if the advert centres on the loved ones that have been lost this year and won’t be there on Xmas day ?

Personally I would like to see adverts that make me smile . Maybe laughing at the craziness of 2020 or an advert that gives a sense of we are in this together !
What would you like to see and how do u think this tradition will be affected ?
These are things I waste my time thinking about !!

I don’t think M&S are doing their usual clothes one but concentrating on their food ones. Not sure about John Lewis, hope it’s not too maudlin.

I loved the dragon one last year, so I hope it's a similar one to that. Heartwarming, made me smile, and a good message.

I saw the Glade air freshner one over the weekend
The jingle had the words "surrounded by family" in it Hmm

I'm hoping to see a plain black screen with writing on it saying they have decided to donate the money they usually spend on the ad to mental health charities, or towards food poverty.
I do love the Christmas ads but think this would be a powerful message to send. Even better if networks donated the price of ad space too.

I hope it's something appropriate. I was buying a birthday present in Next today and felt a bit broken looking at the Xmas tress they were setting up, wondered will they get any Xmas shoppers? 😕😥

I’ve like Burger King encouraging people to buy at other restaurants recently to support the sector. Maybe Amazon etc can advertise saying ‘don’t buy from us, buy independent this year’

Ah i loved the dragon advert from last year, esp as one of my children has SEN and he really reminded me of my boy

I thought the dragon advert was sweet. Talking of fantasy characters Boots No 7 has done a limited edition range based on The Wizard of Oz for this Christmas. If they had done this when i was a little girl back in the very early 80s and that film was on every Christmas i would have been beside myself.

I don't think millions are going to be spent on Christmas adverts this year.

Ppl are going to miss seeing their family, whether through travel as well as those that have lost ppl to Covid and other illnesses
. Some will be spending Christmas alone.
The last thing some ppl need to see is a cheery family round the Christmas tree or dinner table.
