Advice please - ex fil dying from cancer and lockdown

Need advice on this as I'm not sure what to do for the best.

Ex fil is dying, he was given weeks to live a month ago. Ds obviously wants to visit him as much as possible despite lockdown - would this be allowed?? Ex fil is at his own home.

Also Ds is at secondary school and is worried that a student in his year will get a positive test and he'd have to self isolate for two weeks and possibly miss saying bye to his grandad.

Ds dad has told him he can visit his grandad as long as he doesn't socialise with his friends but he's at school with them five days a week anyway??

Anyone have any advice or information on how to deal with this please??

Tbh if I was dying then Covid would be the last thing on my mind and I'd just be happy to see everyone. I think there's exceptions to the travel rule for reasons like this.
I'm sorry

Is he just back from half term? I’d go as soon as possible. It can happen fast, and people deteriorate fast too and quality time can be patchy. I’d assure ex that DS was not ‘socialising’ and get him to visit ASAP.

Ds visits every Sunday he's just worried about passing COVID on to his family if he had to isolate. His dad and uncle have illnesses that made them shield last lockdown. I've suggested if that happens I would take him and everyone else could leave for half an hour or so? We'd obviously wear masks and sanitise our hands
