Has anyone been told to self isolate for 8 days by the NHS app?

DH has. Why only 8?
Also - we have been everywhere together this weekend then he drove to work and back .. but I haven't got it. Odd!

Has he tested positive, if so the 8 days will be worked out from when he first had symptoms. If he’s been contacted due to being a close contact with someone being tested positive, again it’s worked out from when he was in contact with that person.

That means it’s already been six days since his exposure. So what was he doing last Wednesday?

jblue2018 · 03/11/2020 07:47

He hasn’t had a test he’s got no symptoms - he’s been contract traced.

He left his phone in gym locker in changing room last Wednesday. Probably that but then surely that measured from where his phone was and not necessarily him!

It's 14 days from exposure, it will only ping on the app once they have had their test result etc which can take a few days.

Marshyellow · 03/11/2020 07:49

As a PP said, sounds like it will have been last Wednesday.

It's 14 days from exposure

He would have seen someone 6 days ago. We had to self isolate for 12 days as we were contacted 2 days after contact.

I think you're advised to turn scanning off if your phone is in a locker

Yes, me! Last Thursday. Eight days. I'm half way through now. Pleased I have no symptoms. I've read they changed the algorithm to notify at a lower level of contact on Thursday which is why I got contacted then. I think it was when I left my phone on in my bag during aerobics Hmm

Thanks everyone. It’s such a shame that they can’t seem to get the testing and tracking a bit sooner. If it’s really someone he had contact with on Wednesday then we have been and done so much since then. Especially as it was half term we’ve been all over the place with DD. No symptoms yet so 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I agree - I can't help but feel guilty that I might have infected someone. My only consultation is that I have no symptoms and I have a chronic lung condition so I think I would know if I had it.

starrynight19 · 04/11/2020 13:49

Sounds like he has been near someone who tested positive at the gym then.
I got alerted a couple of hours after dp put his positive result in the ap.

It’s such a shame that they can’t seem to get the testing and tracking a bit sooner.

Sometimes the delay is unavoidable. Mine was.

I was tested as I was taken not hospital with some issues. I tested positive - my issues were symptoms (but not testable ones) being caused by Covid. Those symptoms had started a few days previously.

So, my initial symptoms started on the Thursday (possible earlier, but less noticeable). I was tested on the Tuesday and the results came through on the Wednesday - so that was already 5-6 days of the isolation period gone.

movingonup20 · 04/11/2020 16:00

It will be because someone who he had potential contact with was diagnosed and he had contact 6 days ago
