Does anyone know what's happening with kids sports clubs after Thursday? Our ds's football coach hasn't cancelled the weekend fixtures yet and we don't know about the rugby training either.

Can't see anything obvious online but I would presume it should all be cancelled?

In the what’s cancelled list it says after school clubs and sports.
Though my dc primary is still going ahead with them
Both the football clubs have asked me to sign ‘keep grassroots football open over lockdown’ petitions
Cricket is cancelled
It’s not straightforward it seems which I thought it would be

I have had an email from my sons football club saying the after school ones are staying open and they are awaiting confirmation from the FA for weekend clubs. I can't imagine they will though unfortunately x

My sons football club has advised that the local junior league have cancelled all matches for November. I've seen a letter from MPs in support of keeping grassroots sports going but I'm not sure how I feel about it tbh.

England Hockey have released a statement saying all community hockey is off. The info on the gov.co.uk site includes indoor and outdoor leisure facilities on the list of businesses that have to close. Since my son's activities all take place at a leisure centre I'm assuming they will be off although we've not had anything through from the clubs yet.

There's a massive amount of lobbying going on at the moment from various sports bodies - follow Sean Ingle (Guardian) or Dan Roan (BBC) on twitter, they're good at updating.

Also it's not even been through parliament yet, so some of Saturday's announcement could change. That's why there aren't many firm updates.

sunshinesusan878 · 02/11/2020 16:01

That would explain why Saturdays fixtures are still going ahead "for now" then but honestly I don't see how they can justify it if we are in lockdown and aren't supposed to be meeting even outdoors. Plus kids from various different bubbles and all that physical contact. I will be sad to see it go for a month but rather that than and keep safe.

OP I completely agree it's a shit storm ds2 has a match tonight 4 different primary schools in his team alone. But after today weve been told no more until December

IncidentsandAccidents · 02/11/2020 16:21

Dd's football club is meeting as usual this Wednesday but we've been told that's the last one until after lockdown.

cologne4711 · 02/11/2020 16:23

If they do keep kids' football going then the parents need to stay in their cars and not congregate around the touchlines inches away from each other.

It won't though.

Running in small groups is far less risky than contact sports and I very much doubt that will be permitted - it will be run in pairs or households or on your own.

Singing lessons in person 121 are continuing here. Still waiting to hear from the sports club .

Rugbymumof2 · 02/11/2020 18:12

We are assuming rugby is off, most age groups had the last session yesterday, some of the older ages have one more either Tues or Wed night but then that's it.
Unless the RFU guidance expected on Tuesday says any different.

Pertella · 02/11/2020 18:28

We are hoping that my sons martial arts class can still go ahead - they are a small group and can maintain SD easily (2m apart)

Mayvis · 02/11/2020 18:29

We’ve been told athletics and tennis is off and that’s non contact and small groups (max 6) so I’d be amazed if football could go ahead.
