So eg if you think you’ve already had the virus.
I know the antibodies may disappear after a few months but if the test wasn’t excessively expensive I may have sent away for one.
Anyone know a reliable one to buy? Thanks

Depending on what job you do you may be able to get one from the government for free?

Rainynight1234 · 01/11/2020 19:05

Don’t know why Hi appeared in my title there....

Most life science research companies sell them but they are only supposed to ship to business addresses or labs. Plus they are supposed to be done by a healthcare professional. And they are sold in kits of 25-40 tests at about 5 per test,

Rainynight1234 · 01/11/2020 19:14

I thought you could buy them individually online....just wondered if anyone had and would recommend?

Our local pharmacy offers the test, at £60. I would try your pharmacies.

The Imperial REACT2 study selected the Fortress test kits ( www.fortressdiagnostics.com ) as the most reliable for self testing home use, but I have no idea if these are available for the public to purchase?

The most reliable tests are the ones done by labs as mentioned in the link above, but I am not sure if it's possible for individual consumers to access these tests?

Rainynight1234 · 01/11/2020 19:20

switswoo.. I never even thought of that!
Do you know if they carry out the test or do you buy the pack and do it at home?

I’m not sure and the £60 test pharmacy doesn’t have a website. I’ve looked up the other pharmacy, they do an antigen test but it’s £165!

My dental surgery carries them out. I was too cheap to pay the extra £45, but it's handy to know where to go if I want one.

Do you have Vitality healthcare? They are offering discounted antibody tests and a virtual GP consultation, although I haven’t looked at it in detail.

ShalomToYouJackie · 01/11/2020 19:47

Ultrasound direct are doing them

I had mine done at a bupa clinic, £65. Was a blood test so done by a nurse. Results next working day for me. I booked online

Rainynight1234 · 01/11/2020 20:02

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll look them up.
Hadn’t heard of Vitality healthcare before...
