To think that most people aren’t sticking to rules?

I’m not judging.

But I’m wondering if many people are sticking to ALL the rules, or if most people are breaking them in one way or another. All over Facebook I see those in tier 3 areas going to tourist attractions in other areas, and people at small indoor gatherings

Most people are breaking the rules and still bleating on about other people breaking them. People will break this lockdown and then blame everyone else when we're locked down over Christmas too or the schools are made to close.

I still see my mum but in non-covid times she helps us with our disabled DC so we stretch the bit of the rules that says you can provide support to a vulnerable person. We did follow the rules fully during the original lockdown and it was really rough so as soon as the first easements came in we went back to my mum providing us and the DC with respite and providing much needed company and support. We'll keep doing it during this new lockdown too.

I mitigate it by not going to pubs, restaurants, or attractions, not meeting up with any other households, and doing virtually all of my shopping online.

The government can stick it, frankly. They lost any authority they had when they allowed Cummings to fuck off to Durham without any consequences as he was "doing what any responsible parent would do".

@Gancanny I don’t think that’s breaking the rules as it’s providing care ! Xx

To wonder how many people can think it is OK to keep posting Covid Shit in places other than the Covid board - because obviously 'they is speshull' and don't need to follow the MN guidance.

raspberryk · 31/10/2020 21:56

No they aren’t but they say or think they are because they don’t fully understand them or interpret them as they see fit.
At least when I break them I know I’m breaking them.
Don’t forget there are a lot of people in the UK who have a reading age of around 11, so it’s not surprising they don’t know what they’re supposed to be doing by reading the guidance. Let’s face it bumbling bojo isn’t exactly the clearest communicator .

YABU to post this outside of the Coronavirus topic.

wheresmymojo · 31/10/2020 22:06

Everyone I know in RL is following the rules and intends to continue that way 🤷🏻‍♀️

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 31/10/2020 22:07

Most people i know say they are sticking to the rules, but bending and stretching them to fit what they want. Whether they are knowingly doing so or not is any ones guess!

throwaway100000 · 31/10/2020 22:08

I dunno about most but I certainly know people in my wider circle that have broken rules in some form

Bellesavage · 31/10/2020 22:09

I think most people have given up trrying to know what 'the rules' are.

Titsywoo · 31/10/2020 22:11

I'm in tier 1 and have been following any rules that apply to me but I'm sure I've broken some at some point over the last 6 months.

alibongo5 · 31/10/2020 22:17

Almost everyone I know is still following the rules. As far as I know anyway.

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 31/10/2020 22:26

I'm mostly sticking to the rules, apart from the no meeting in private gardens, but public parks etc are okay to meet in.

I intend to continue to visit my elderly relative in their garden after lockdown starts on Thursday. They don't drive and can't walk far, so they wouldn't be able to get to the nearest park. We live within walking distance, so when the weather is nice I will walk round, bring a cup of tea, and sit in the garden with them for a chat.

I get why they say no private gardens; because of the temptation to go inside if it rains or you need the loo etc, but I won't. I haven't been in their house since March.

KitKatastrophe · 31/10/2020 22:31

YANBU
Most people are following most of the rules, but almost everyone I know is breaking them in small ways e.g. meeting up with 7 people, having 1 or 2 people with whom they don't social distance,

Youandmealwaysandforever · 31/10/2020 22:38

I am in Wales and considering the huge increase in positive cases in my county obviously a lot of people aren't. I have only left my house twice for gp appointment. Before second lockdown the local pubs were definitely not social distancing.

indemMUND · 31/10/2020 22:51

The people I'm forced to encounter ie school run and food shopping are not. School run mums are bragging about it on Facebook then ranting because they've caught it. Not many appear to give a shit around here.
