Register your home test kit before you do the swab because it may not bloody work!

Ugh, just did the horrible swab before registering. Major error. Site won’t recognise the barcode, says it’s incorrect despite both typing it in and scanning. Stupid bloody system.

Have a look on the box - I have done 5 tests now and I always seem to put the wrong thing in first time. Try all the codes you can find!

It’s a website issue apparently, I had to ring and register my test on Friday.

Yes, don't give up yet.
There is more than one code on the kit so it is very confusing. I thought it wasn't working but then discovered I wasn't using the right code.

SinkGirl · 26/10/2020 12:12

No I’ve definitely entered the right code - there’s the one from the email (entered and accepted fine) then the barcode that’s on the box and the vial. No other codes - it’s in the right format, and scanned in fine, just says there’s an error. I will try calling.

Just call them. You can do it over the phone. It is actually a v good system and I’ve been using it weekly since May. It has always worked. I actually registered a kit on line an hour ago but I often call them too

There may be two different barcodes on the return box. One matches the vial, and the other one relates to the post I think. Check carefully. I had the same issue when I tried to register a test kit, and then I saw the second barcode.

Also, the instruction pamphlet has a code on it (same as the vial). Keep it preciously: in case results don’t get back to you, for instance due to email problems, that code makes it much easier to retrieve the results.

Thanks all, you’re all absolutely right - despite thinking I had it all sussed I had missed the code they were looking for, which is on the return postage label. I’m going to blame it on the fact I feel so rubbish 😬

It is confusing as there’s one on the label at the front and the one of the vial etc plus your email code. No idea why it didn’t work - I knew someone who had a kit turn up without a barcode so it had to be abandoned so I feared the same! Glad I don’t have to redo the swab 🤢
