Teachers, school staff, university staff - will you get the vaccine?

Just read a thread where a good proportion of NHS staff say they won’t get the vaccine when it becomes available.

So just wondering what school and university staff will do.

Yes.

solidaritea · 25/10/2020 19:36

If it has undergone adequate testing, yes.

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 25/10/2020 19:36

Will teachers be offered the vaccine?

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 25/10/2020 19:37

They don't have any PPE.

Barbie222 · 25/10/2020 19:38

I read the thread and understand some people's concerns but yes, I'd have it. I have the flu vaccine every year and that's often changed / developed too. I'd see it as the responsible thing to do, even as someone who's low risk and has maybe had it already.

Readandwalk · 25/10/2020 19:38

Yes.

ASimpleLobsterHat · 25/10/2020 19:38

Will university staff be given the vaccine? I think I would have it if offered, but I can’t imagine we’ll be in the first group offered it given that we’re not classed as key workers.

Ginogineli · 25/10/2020 19:40

No for same reason I don’t have flu vaccine

I’m low risk

There’s talk that it’ll be years before your average young and low risker gets it and it may not be free

Not all groups get the flu vaccine on nhs I expect covid will be same

Ginogineli · 25/10/2020 19:41

I honestly don’t think it’ll be offered to all in the way people think

HelloMissus · 25/10/2020 19:41

Sorry I’ve no idea if you’d be offered it as a priority, I was just wondering if hypothetically- if it was available - if you would.

Secondary teacher....yes yes yes...Am feeling so depressed after reading how many wont on the other thread!

HelloMissus · 25/10/2020 19:44

Though I should say I think your unions should push very hard for you to be priority.

OP posts:
HipTightOnions · 25/10/2020 19:46

Yes please.

HelloMissus · 25/10/2020 19:46

Max aye.
We keep being told that all the sacrifices people are making, the losses we’re suffering are inevitable in order to protect the NHS.
But then NHS staff will refuse a vaccine?
Head blown off.

AppleKatie · 25/10/2020 19:47

yes, I’d pay quite a lot for it too if I thought I could get it more quickly.

Tyranttoddler · 25/10/2020 19:48

Yes

MrsHamlet · 25/10/2020 19:49

My local authority, which has given teachers the flu vaccine routinely for years, has withdrawn it this year. I'm struggling to find somewhere to get it done.
But yes, I would have the Covid vaccine.

CarrieBlue · 25/10/2020 19:49

Yes, sleeve rolled up ready!

HelloMissus · 25/10/2020 19:52

carrie that made me laugh.

HelloMissus · 25/10/2020 19:54

MrsH that’s terrible!
Using up a bed with flu must be something we’re all trying to avoid.
Plus frankly, I’d not want flu+ Covid and I’m pretty relaxed about the whole thing generally.

OP posts:
MrsSnitchnose · 25/10/2020 19:56

Secondary support staff here and no I won't

Ginogineli · 25/10/2020 19:58

Flu is 98% down compared to the same 6 monthsast year - according to figures today so I don’t think they’re concerned about flu this year

MrsHamlet · 25/10/2020 19:58

HelloMissus yep. Baffling really.

Ginogineli · 25/10/2020 20:00

MrsH aren’t the likes of boots etc doing it? Our workplace has given us vouchers for &5 off at boots but I haven’t tried to book

camsie · 25/10/2020 20:01

Yes I would.
Can't get the flu vaccine for love nor money though!
