I know one of the UK’s first Covid patients! Admitted to Intensive Care end of February when treatment wasn’t so good (because they didn’t know so much about it)
She’s fit as a fiddle and now attends a weekly group I go to.
Flowers for you and you fil

A friend's husband was admitted with breathing difficulties last month, and given oxygen treatment. He was in for 8 days and is now recovering very well at home.

Thank you so much. I'm so worried and no one here to talk to

Even in the over 80s age group, you are still several times more likely to survive than die. And since April, treatment techniques have improved loads - using CPAP machines rather than ventilators where possible, and the use of dexamethasone have led to much better survival rates.

Flowers and fingers, toes, etc. crossed.

How old is you FIL? how long has he been ill?

I know someone mid 50s that was on a ventilator for 8 weeks, longest stay in our local hospital. He has recovered and is home. He still needs oxygen and he is having support from carers but continues to improve.

My mum’s friend’s mum (in her 90s) spent some time in hospital with COVID earlier in the year and she recovered well ❤️

I know a man who has severe respiratory illness who survived, surprised everyone in that he made a very quick recovery considering his condition. I do hope your FIL gets better soon OP.

A close family member in their 70's with a few health issues has just been discharged and is recovering at hone
Thanks for your family member

Honestly these stories are helping me so much. He is mid 60's and usually reasonably fit and well. He is just so lovely and the thought of him being in hospital alone is upsetting

The odds really are in his favour OP! Flowers

60% of patients who need intensive care treatment survive. Your FIL is being admitted to hospital not intensive care so his odds are much much higher.

DH is home from work now and has been in touch with MIL and FIL hasn't been admitted they have taken obs and said he seems ok. Thank you so much for reassuring stories. Fingers crossed he improves at home

A friend who is in my team at work got Covid back in March and was critically ill on a ventilator for quite some time. She recovered but there were some very dark days where we were almost sure she wouldn't. It's a long road but she is currently at home, and has recovered well. It was so good to see her taking part in a recent online meeting again - highlight of my year. I hope you FIL is going to be ok. Try and stay positive.
