I'm pretty sure I have covid. Had a test yesterday and it came back inconclusive so have booked another for the morning. I was next to a colleague who tested positive so will be surprised if I haven't got it. I have aching bones, headache and a cough.

If you have had a positive how long did you have off work and when did you start to feel better? I feel pretty awful at the minute, similar to a chest infection

Presumably it would depend on how long your symptoms last for?

Sciencebabe · 22/10/2020 04:39

It's usually 2 weeks

If it’s positive the minimum time you have to isolate for is 10 days from the start of your symptoms. Of course though if you still feel unwell after that time you could stay off longer but you should no longer be infectious at that point. The only time you need to self isolate for longer than 19 days is if you have a fever still at that 10 day point - then you need to continue to self isolate until you are 48 hours fever free.

Sorry, it should say 10 days, not 19.

I needed a bit beyond the ten days to feel completely well again. Everyone’s experiencing very different symptoms though.
