How long do they generally take to arrive? Ordered yesterday afternoon.

We've just received our test, I'm so confused! Last pick up is 17.15 so do I need to post it at 16.15 at the latest? Or 16.15 at the earliest?

Also how are we meant to take it to the post box (which is actually a post office) if we are all meant to be self isolating as 1 person has symptoms Confused

AldiAisleofCrap · 21/10/2020 17:09

The online booklet says no later as you say. Think my email was rogue!

Esmeralda1988 · 21/10/2020 17:09

I'm so confused having read this! I posted mine at 5.10pm yesterday, last collection was 5.15pm, have I done it wrong? Why would it matter? Confused

AldiAisleofCrap · 21/10/2020 17:11

@Esmeralda1988 I think there are two possible issues:
one your test could be too old for a valid result if it sits in the post box for a long time. And two if you post too late the postman could randomly employ the post box early that day.

Hugosmugo · 21/10/2020 17:11

Don't worry @AldiAisleofCrap
It is all a mess isn't it! Bet they come back invalid now!

@TheFormerPorpentinaScamander
I was thinking the same. I looked up priority post boxes and found one that wasn't inside a post office. My car is outside so I drove to the post box and straight home.

OP posts:
AldiAisleofCrap · 21/10/2020 17:11

*empty not employ.

AldiAisleofCrap · 21/10/2020 17:13

@Hugosmugo didn’t mean to confuse, hope I have not jinxed an invalid!

Esmeralda1988 · 21/10/2020 17:13

Bugger. I did the test about 5 minutes before posting it. Would have helped if the Amazon man had rung the doorbell to alert me to the fact it was lying on the doormat Hmm

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 21/10/2020 17:14

@Hugosmugo I don't drive! It just doesn't make sense that we are supposed to stay at home but have to go out to send the test off! I live opposite a post box but its not a priority one Hmm

movingonup20 · 21/10/2020 17:16

@TheFormerPorpentinaScamander

Do you still have covid support volunteers in your area? Or a covid Facebook group? Post there and I'm sure someone can help

AldiAisleofCrap · 21/10/2020 17:16

@Esmeralda1988 it will be fine as long as you posted it before the post man emptied the box.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 21/10/2020 17:19

We have a street WhatsApp group so I'll ask there.

movingonup20 · 21/10/2020 17:23

I've just checked where I am, no priority outside boxes at all (nearest is in neighbouring city 30+ mins drive away)

Esmeralda1988 · 21/10/2020 17:26

@AldiAisleofCrap thanks, just trying to remember what it sounded like when I posted it, did it land on empty metal or other post..Oh well, what will be will be.

bettycat81 · 21/10/2020 17:27

Booked Saturday afternoon, arrived and sent back Monday afternoon, results today (wednesday afternoon) .

Both negative.

Found this isolation mentally worse than lockdown.

Hugosmugo · 21/10/2020 18:01

Thanks @bettycat81 I'm glad you got a negative. I'm only 1 day in really and you're right, it feels worse. I think it is the not knowing how long I'm isolating for.
Trying to make use of my time by watching TV

OP posts:
Hugosmugo · 22/10/2020 13:47

Has anyone had results back yet from this week?

@TheFormerPorpentinaScamander did you manage to get it sent off?

OP posts:
Esmeralda1988 · 22/10/2020 21:05

Sent mine last post Tuesday, result back at 5pm Thursday (negative)

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 22/10/2020 21:17

@Hugosmugo no! It's a joke.

Royal mail site says the post office at end of the road is our nearest priority postbox. Sent DS1 to deliver it. They don't take them, so home he comes. I phoned the helpline. "Oh no Miss Scamander. You don't hand them in to the post office. You put it in the post box at the post office".
Told him there isn't one there. He checks Google maps. Agrees that there isn't a postbox. Looks for my next nearest one. "There's one on Name Street, its just around the corner from the post office but you've missed the last collection so will have to go tomorrow".
The post box on Name Street is opposite my house, and isn't listed as being a priority post box on the royal mail site Hmm
So he's arranged a courier for tomorrow.

Poor ds2. Its his birthday tomorrow and we are isolating due to his cough he won't be able to see anyone. No one has dropped his cards/presents off as we were expecting to see them and I havent even managed to get to the shops to buy anything. Luckily he's a teenager so old enough to understand and already planning which lego sets to buy next week Grin

Hugosmugo · 22/10/2020 22:59

Thanks @Esmeralda1988 I have been refreshing emails all day but that would be optimistic really. I hope mine come tomorrow.

@TheFormerPorpentinaScamander I am so sorry to hear that. What a massive pain that is for you all.
And sorry to hear it has messed up your DS's birthday too! Happy birthday to him.
I hope your results are back soon.
So will the test have been completed yesterday but collected tomorrow? I've been wondering how long they last.

OP posts:
TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 22/10/2020 23:02

He did the test today but won't be collected until tomorrow. The man on the phone said it was fine. Hopefully we won't lose too much of half term next week waiting for results. Assuming its negative that is! We're going to watch movies and make cakes. If he's lucky I won't make him do any school work GrinWink

Hugosmugo · 23/10/2020 13:13

Hope you get the negative results!
I'm still waiting. Feeling quite down bot being able to leave!

OP posts:
TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 23/10/2020 13:26

I hope your results come soon! The test was collected today but I'm guessing we won't get results over the weekend!

Hugosmugo · 23/10/2020 20:44

Thank you! Me too. Glad it has been collected and hopefully you get them soon.

Does anyone know if results come through on a weekend? I've still heard nothing.

OP posts:
EenyMeenyMinyNo · 23/10/2020 20:55

I ordered at 9am today, its due tomorrow according to tracking - last collection is midday though on a Saturday Gahh! Wishing I'd driven the 50 miles for the drive thru now!
