Anyone else had a holiday booked in Wales for half term?

I’m sure many people were booked to go away.
We booked to go to Pembrokeshire next week, even keeping a close eye on things but now Wales is in lockdown it’s looking like we won’t be able to go.

We are booked through hoseasons, are we entitled to a refund? Will they be able to offer us a break somewhere else?

We are living in a tier 1 and would only holiday in another tier 1 area (which Pembrokeshire was).

We no longer have tiers in Wales, we are back in full lockdown until November 2nd so I doubt you will be able to come to Wales on holiday, I imagine the company will be in touch with people who have booked

OohKittens · 19/10/2020 15:48

Until 9th of November Wales is now closed, all that will open before is primary schools and years 7 and 8 of comp. I'm in Pembrokeshire and you most definitely won't be able to come here.

You won't be going to Wales on holiday. Everything is going to be shut. Had calls today cancelling a few activities I managed to book for half term.

HotToCold · 19/10/2020 15:51

100% you wont be going there

I know, that’s why I’m asking. Just wondered if anyone has been in touch with Hoseasons and been able to get a refund? Also wondering if anyone’s been able to switch to another location rather than cancelling?

I haven’t called them yet as I’m guessing I will be on hold for a hour or so as I’m sure they are very busy.

I totally meant the 9th of November, kids are back in school the second, very exciting, that's why the date stuck in my mind 😂

I was supposed to be going to bluestone on Friday. Oh well, it was a long shot anyway.

Have you managed to get a refund yet? I’m going to try and call hoseasons this morning and get a refund. I would still like to go somewhere for half term but with all the uncertainty about a circuit breaker I’m unsure about booking something else. All we want is a break somewhere remote, we don’t plan on going to any big attractions or busy places (I would feel unsafe doing so).

I'm booked with cottages.com to go to Cornwall from Wales in mid November. They are part of hoseasons and I managed to get advice through Twitter DMs much quicker than trying to get through on the phone, in case that's of any help to you!

rookiemere · 20/10/2020 08:22

If you go on the Hoseasons website, the covid-19 update says they will be emailing all customers due to go to Wales to provide them with the option of a voucher or full refund. So disappointing but sounds as if you should get your money back.

We're just back from the Lake District- Pooley Bridge which is slightly quieter than some parts due to bridge not being finished yet. I booked 3 days before we went and got a lovely lodge, so maybe just wait until the very last minute to see what's happening.

I don’t have Twitter, can I contact through Fb? I am on the phone to them but have been in a queue for over half an hour now and getting close to giving up. I know I will get my money back but kind of need the money so I can book a travel lodge for a couple nights instead.

Hi lovemusic I'm not sure. They need to be able to verify your details to look at your booking.

Lovemusic33 · 20/10/2020 14:21

After a hour on the phone I managed to get a refund, they didn’t even try and persuade me into taking a credit voucher. Money will take up to 5 days to clear. Now to decide if we should book somewhere else or just stay at home? Who knows what the next few days will bring with covid ☹️

@Lovemusic33 @greyspottedgoose I didnt think we ever had Tiers in Wales, thought they were England only ?

Lovemusic33 · 21/10/2020 21:12

No, no tiers but I guess it’s the equivalent of a tier 3 as the whole of Wales is in lockdown.
