Can I socialise (distanced outside) with people in a different tier?

I read in the guidance yesterday that you can’t but now I can’t see where I read it

From Tier 3 guidelines - "you must not socialise with anybody you do not live with or have formed a support bubble with, in any indoor setting or in any private garden or at most outdoor hospitality venues and ticketed events
you must not socialise in a group of more than 6 in an outdoor public space such as a park or beach, the countryside, a public garden or a sports venue"

So yes, you can socialise as long as you are outside in a public venue, socially distanced, and there are no more than 6 of you, even in Tier 3.

I’m sure I read a caveat yesterday about not between tiers but I can’t find it now!

Hypothetically/ legally you should be bound by the highest tier involved.

If anyone thinks I'm going to uphold that by making my elderly, arthritic mum sit out in the garden in the winter, they are a barbaric sadist.

If the highest tier that anyone is in is Tier 2, that's fine (as long as there are no more than six of you in total). Haven't kept up to speed so much with Tier 3 rules, but I believe socialising in private gardens is banned for Tier 3.

Thanks, this wasn’t the case yesterday when I read the guidance, they must’ve updated it and changed this

If you are in tier 1 you can socialise in an outdoor setting with someone from tier 2 (up to a maximum of 6 people and socially-distanced).

You can't socialise with anyone from tier 3.

MereDintofPandiculation · 16/10/2020 20:51

You can't socialise with anyone from tier 3. Where does it say this, please? I couldn't find it in the guidance.

FieldsAndSun · 16/10/2020 20:59

Are you in Tier 2 or Tier 3 OP? We are in Tier 2 and can socialise with up to 6 outside...Tier 3 can't socialise inside or outside with another household x

FieldsAndSun · 16/10/2020 21:00

If you are in Tier 1 you can socialise inside and outside, up to 6

PatriciaHolm · 16/10/2020 21:31

Tier 3 can socialise, as long as it is in groups of no more than 6, and outside in public places such as parks and beaches, and with social distancing. People are advised not to travel in and out of Tier 3 areas though, but that is guidance.

I think my issue is whether people can socialise together when they live in different tiers (1 and 2) rather than whether people in geveeal can socialise.
