Another question about meeting in tier 2 areas

Are you allowed to go for a drink with a friend if you pre-book for a pub with a garden? And if so, does anyone know any pubs in London where you can do this, specifically, or do most of them if they have a garden? My local ones you just book a table, it's not specified as outdoors, but I am in tier 1.

Yes it is allowed in tier 2, but I’m in Sandwell so can’t help with where is suitable in London!

Thank you!

In tier 2 you are allowed to meet outside with people from other households up to a maximum of 6 people. I don't know London though so not sure about making bookings.

You really should familiarise yourself with what you are and aren't allowed to do:

It’s legal but discouraged.

FuckingBUTTERbeans · 16/10/2020 13:35

Thanks. I had read that, and I guess this bit had me confused:

"Outdoors, you can meet in groups of up to 6 people.

This includes in:

pubs and restaurants

leisure and entertainment venues

places of worship"

because it's not that usual for most of those types of places to have outdoor areas.

Many pubs and restaurants have outdoor seating.
Lots of people meet outside church before and after services.
Leisure - exercise groups such as running aren't really venues. Velodrome, rowing, golf etc may be the kind of activities meant.
Entertainment - there's the Globe theatre, but most outdoor stuff is summer based, so no idea what this refers to. Also visits to National Trust gardens, Kew Gardens, Hampton Court, parks etc?

Are church services still happening then? I didn't think they were. Just curious.

Thank you for the suggestions. Hoping for decent weather.

Yes, since 4th July, although subject to restrictions to make them safer.

FuckingBUTTERbeans · 16/10/2020 15:23

Oh, yes I knew that, I thought moving into tier 2 would mean they were no longer happening.

My local church is requesting that people don’t gather to chat before or after services. Those going are respecting this.

superram · 16/10/2020 15:30

There are loads of pubs in London with outdoor spaces. Pergola, where I. London are you looking?

FuckingBUTTERbeans · 16/10/2020 16:39

I have found somewhere and booked it now, but thank you. I just wasn't sure if a lot of them, in the current tier 2 situations, would have it so you could specifically book outdoor tables. The one I contacted were fine with it, and it was where we wanted to go originally, so very pleased. It is just with one (very responsible) friend who I have not seen for 18 months (like a lot of people, neither of us have really seen anyone for 7 months!), and due to personal circumstances, we were unable to do it before the new restrictions came in.
