When is London going to have a local lockdown

Saw this in the evening standard. www.standard.co.uk/news/london/london-coronavirus-cases-wealthy-boroughs-a4567161.html. Richmonds figures have been growing very fast. In the first spike we were always one of the areas with lower levels of infection. This time it seems the reverse is true.

I live in Richmond and was hopeful that we wouldn't be hit this badly. We had amongst the lowest infection rates during the first wave, so I was very surprised to see it's now a London hot-spot. Sad Though what the article says (regarding students testing positive in other cities) might be a contributing factor.

I'm guessing that the announcement on Monday will make things clearer for everyone.

There was certainly a lot of socialising going on in Richmond in the lead up to students going back to uni.

Richmond are claiming that many of the cases being allocated to them are actually in totally different areas (Manchester and Exeter being 2 of those I've seen mentioned) so it's not clear if the headline figure actually says much in this case.

Next week.

CoolYourBeansMySon · 09/10/2020 16:55

Yes, it seems pretty likely that it will be next week. I don't know why Richmond has leapt up so quickly. It's not a trend in surrounding boroughs?

This was on sky earlier. Will see what next week brings.

When is London going to have a local lockdown
cheninblanc · 09/10/2020 17:11

Sooner rather than later I hope. I know its difficult but I'm watching the cases go up here (I work in London)

skedaddIe · 09/10/2020 17:14

Will lockdowns be borough/district based rather than a whole London lockdown?

cheninblanc · 09/10/2020 17:16

Skedaddle he's just said on the news that it'll be next week and will be London wide, not just by Borough
