Results by text or email? Or both?

Hi,

Tests done for most of the family on Sunday. Results for all but one came through overnight by email. It just occurred to us that we never got enail confirmation of the appointment for one DC, although we did get text confirmation and a QR code. Maybe we didn't check properly and the email address was written down wrongly. Do they text as well? Otherwise we're stuck in. I've heard you can't chase results. Did a text come later?

All tests so far negative. What do we do if the final result doesn't arrive?

Thanks!

I've always got both for previous tests and both for appointment confirmation. They arrive at the same time as each other, but people tested at the same time can get their results hours apart.

i have both text and email

MacOrMc · 06/10/2020 06:49

So far I have no texts, just emails sent at different times over about 2 hours in the middle of the night. DH just read that the text messages can be received a few hours after the email, anybody found that?

It must be a glitch. I had to enter my email address twice to book the test, I can't have got it identically wrong twice surely? And surely the system is advanced enough to recognise that two children can have the same date of birth? Although that has caused NHS system confusion before.

And as another point, why does the form make us write our email address twice for each person getting tested? Why not a tick box confirming the same email address?

Do you mean you have twins and it's one of them for whom you have no results?

Did you all have symptoms at the same time, in order to all get tested at the same time?

MacOrMc · 06/10/2020 07:11

Yes, twins. One started coughing Friday late at night, the other on Saturday. Tests booked Saturday afternoon.

Forms ask twice cos it helps weed out mistakes. If the two entries don't match, the system prompts you to look.

Anyway hopefully a glitch and you'll get the next result soon. Also, my dad was positive and received a phone call. Not sure how typical that is.

To add, I woke up coughing Saturday morning so booked with the kids. DH started coughing later on Saturday and booked his separately.

@BexR never heard of anyone being phoned with results! What area is he in?

North East. The test was a pre-hospital procedure formality so maybe that makes a difference.

We had email and text results, 5 hours apart! Can’t remember which cane first. This was in June though.

The one missing result is finally through! It came by text message. The others came by email, but no text messages for them. Must be a weird technical thing. Thankfully all negative, so back to normal for us.
