No results in 72 hours - what should I do?

I’m almost at the 72 hour mark since I had the test for my child. No results have come through and 119 automated voice says they won’t chase results and to just isolate for the full ten days if they don’t come through.

I tested for a cough. I’m in a low risk area. Kids will get many coughs and temperatures over winter, I understand the need to test which is why we did it and have kept our kids off school the whole time but there must be some kind of system to guarantee that you at least get a result.

Are there any other means of getting results other than calling 119 or waiting for a text that seems will never come?

Should I just assume his test is lost in the system and get him another test and hope the results come back within 24 hours? It seems like a waste but they are offering me no other means of resolving the problem.

What sort of test was it?

2-4 days is pretty normal for a drive through site these days, longer for a home test. My home one was collected on Wednesday morning and I got the results back on Saturday morning, and that was quicker than other people I know (although still shocking admittedly).

I think you just need to wait I'm afraid.

It was a drive through test. It says it should be back within 48 hours but in rare cases it can take up to 72 hours. My question is what happens after 72 hours?

Haha, it may say that, but it's not the reality at the moment. Its aspirational...

And yes, you could get another test, but you're pretty unlikely to receive the results in 24 hours, even if you are lucky to find a test site within that time, so you may as well save the test for someone else, and avoid the waste of time, and just wait for the one you've already taken tbh.

They need to sort out this shambles.

When you ring 119 press 2 and you should get to speak to someone who can chase up results.

I am same position and called 119 but they said they weren’t taking calls and can’t help. I’m 72 hours now so am just going to have to wait it out and HOPE my test results come soon!
