I feel quite sad about it. I only live around 2.5 miles from the city, but pass through a town centre to get to it so it's not necessary that I go into the city.
Pre covid I used to go through the city daily (x2) on my commute. I'd also nip in for dinner or drinks with friends or husband.
At the start of March I stopped commuting (packed trains - faces in armpit type packed) and walked or drove, both of which mean skirting the edge of the city.
I think dh and I had dinner mid March in a restaurant. Then that's it. I haven't even be specifically avoiding it per se, more just only making necessary trips and whatever I need I can get at places closer than the city.
Its making me really quite sad. I think I may take a walk in tomorrow just to have a stroll. And I feel bad for not shopping there. It's mainly chain stores, so I'm hopefully not affecting small business owners by shopping elsewhere.
It has (had) a thriving arts scene: comedy, theatre, museums. I sincerely hope recovery is possible.
