I work in a lockdown area. Don’t live there.

Chatting to colleagues today:

1 said their dd (teen) had tested positive, but came to work anyway as she had already had it. Only said it as she was about to finish her shift. (Professional, intelligent person)

1 had visited an attraction for the day (in a different county) at the weekend to celebrate a family members birthday. 2 households, 8 people, one vulnerable.

1 has happily admitted she will continue to break the rules to see different family members and host them for meals, inside and out.

Left me feeling a bit despondent tbh, when will people learn....

one person is not a whole area

Let's face it, professional, intelligent person means nothing these days -

There are people like that everywhere though. I live in an area with fairly low cases and I'm sure there are people like that here as well.

Most of the places under local local down are poor, deprived towns and citys in the north of england and south wales. These people have faced cut after cut in the austerity years, leaving them at high risk to covid due to overcramped housing and low wage but impossible to do at home jobs.

Now they are being asked to sacrifice even more and be like robots, only working or going to school. Of course they're not following it, if you'd been looked over by the government time and time again, would you really listen to them?

Definitely what user said ^^

Would you follow it if you were in a never ending lockdown area? I certainly wouldn’t.
