Does isolation strengthen or weaken the immune system?

Since lockdown started in March my DD (10) has had no illnesses at all. Then a few days after school started she caught a cold which she can't shake off. Followed by another cold. She's had more time off this September than ever before.

Is there just an outside possibility that she's got colds from being with other people. As opposed to lockdown. When we didn't see other people.
In other words: nothing to do with immune system fluctuations.

I suspect that her immune system is functioning as it ever did, but she is simply encountering more pathogens. I hope she feels better soon.

Depending on age and length of isolation it weakens the immune system and I have read that the current (pre-covid) obsession with killing every germ is also at least partially responsible for an increase in childhood allergies.

I am seriously worried that we now have 6months worth of babies that have not been exposed to the the usual coughs and colds, which means that they are not building immunity for the future.
