My ds is 11 on Thursday and we have booked to stay at the beatles hotel for the night. He’s a huge beatles fan and it’s something he’s Wanted to do for ages.

He will be absolutely gutted that we will have to cancel but I can’t see us being able to go 😩😭 I’m gutted for him.

Hotels are open OP high infection rate though so if you did you would need to take extra care.

City centre is operating as usual with all the Beatles attractions still open. The lockdown Beijing discussed for Liverpool is in relation to household mixing and pubs mainly.

Redcrayons · 29/09/2020 18:11

Such a shame if you have to cancel. But 3 weeks is a long time in the Covid world, so you never know.
The Beatles have been around for a long long time, he’ll get there some day.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2020 18:20

The rules are mainly about mixing households. If it's just you two, it'll be ok. If the hotel is still open I'd go.

thelikelylass · 29/09/2020 18:32

make sure you see the Linda McCartney exhibition and hope your little lad has a fantastic time and gets lots of photos with the four Beatles at the pier head and Eleanor Rigby on her bench!

Proudpeacock · 29/09/2020 18:45

Some friends spent last weekend in a hotel in Liverpool and it seemed like everything was open.

OpenlyGayExOlympicFencer · 29/09/2020 19:59

How come you'll have to cancel? Legally at the moment it's fine to visit, unless you're in one of the areas of Wales where people can't travel out. Is it that or would you not feel comfortable going now?

Concerned7777 · 29/09/2020 20:04

The mayor of Liverpool has today said hes pushing for a social lockdown with all hospitality to be closed for 2 weeks. Whether he will get what he's pushing for is anyones guess.

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 01/10/2020 13:17

Does this mean we won’t be able to go :(

@Thedarksideofthemoon30 there isnt a border around the county that they could possibly monitor people in and out so how they'd enforce this im not sure other than maybe random traffic stops but I doubt Merseyside police or any other police force have the man power to be continuously doing this. Best to speak to the hotel direct, if you are travelling just with your own household i can't see that they will have any issue with your booking and will welcome your business.

Redcrayons · 01/10/2020 15:01

They are clarifying the rules tomorrow before it comes into effect on Saturday am. Travel might be ‘advise against’ rather than law.

Local paper says nothing but essential travel.

Advice against all but essential travel is guidance the household mixing is law so OP should be good to go.

BarbaraofSeville · 01/10/2020 15:53

Can I suggest that you get your news from somewhere more reliable than the Daily Mail, such as the BBC website and preferably wait for publication of the official rules on gov.uk. Also note the important distinction between must and should.

As of yet, there is nowhere in England (except possibly Leicester) where it is not allowed to enter or leave areas for leisure purposes.

HeyMacarona · 01/10/2020 15:58

From The Telegraph and published on Liverpool.gov:

No chance of us going Liverpool in 3 weeks?! 😩😭
HeyMacarona · 01/10/2020 15:58

Oh and effective from Saturday

Zoflorabore · 01/10/2020 16:02

I live there and from what I’ve read it seems as though only essential travel is recommended ie going to work or school so I’m not sure how that translates in your case. As far as I’m aware the hotels etc will not be shut.
