Local lockdown - if you have a reasonable excuse to leave lockdown area can you then do other things in the area?

For example if you can reasonably leave the area to work in another area can you then call in a shop or cafe on your lunch break? Even though you can’t go into the area just to go to the shop or cafe?

I’m specifically asking because I need to leave my lockdown area to go to the hospital when I’m in labour or if my waters break as I will need antibiotics (hosp is 40 mins away) I will likely be sent away and told to come back in 4 hours for more antibiotics. Could I go for lunch in the same area as the hospital instead? Obviously not if I’m in pain etc!

Are you in England?
In our local lockdown- West Yorkshire- there is no restriction on travel for any reason, just on meeting other households. As long as you’re just with your own household you can go where you like.

I am in Leeds and we are allowed out of our area but only with other household or bubble members - so I could go to a cafe, but not with a friend. Same rules indoors & outdoors, so can't meet up for walks with friends ☹️.

Hi Bickles, it's pants isn't it?

LatteLover12 · 27/09/2020 17:52

Same as @BarelyMerry I'm in a local lockdown area which means no one can visit me at home and I can't visit them but I can go to a cafe/restaurant/pub/gallery etc as long as I don't meet up with anyone I know 🤯

I cannot wait for it to be lifted.

Yes! Been doing this since 1st August. I’m fed up of it now. It doesn’t seem to make any difference- numbers just keep rising regardless.

killerofmen · 27/09/2020 17:53

I think that's reasonable, but it's not up to me. If the police don't believe it's reasonable, they'll ask you to go home.

KitKatastrophe · 27/09/2020 17:55

Wanting to stay near the hospital whilst in labour is definitely a reasonable excuse.

Wobbitcatcher · 27/09/2020 18:03

I’m not in England, in our lockdown we have to stay within our boroughs unless we have a reasonable excuse. If I was closer to the hospital I’d much prefer to head home for a bit but given that it’s so far away and it’s my 2nd baby so could be quick seems sensible to stay near by.
