Can you argue the case with Test and Trace?

Just that really.
I've not been contacted yet so I don't know how it all works and how much detail they go into.
But say, if Infected Person had been to a cafe where I'd been, but they were there from 1-3pm and I was there from 4-6pm, could I advise the contract tracer that and they take me off the list of those needing to isolate?
If detail like table numbers and times of visit is taken into account, this would make me more likely to go out spending money, supporting local business etc. If it's quite a blunt tool, I don't want to take the risk. I'm a single parent with 3dc in a small flat with no garden, the thought of multiple isolations over winter with 3 healthy kids bouncing off the walls is the stuff of nightmare. I feel like the fact they are all at school already means we have zillions of points of contact.
Disclaimer: I/we would of course isolate if we had to, but I'd be bitter about it if the timings meant there was no risk.
Can anyone advise?

We have had a positive test on Tuesday. The haven’t been in tough yet. I wouldn’t worry that they are being overzealous.

Why would someone who wasn’t in the restaurant at the same time need to isolate?

PinkkLady · 27/09/2020 09:37

They’re barely getting in touch with anyone and when they do, they ask you to do the contact tracing and phoning yourself! It’s a disgrace.

Yes. My friend works for t&t and it gets escalated and reevaluated. Or something like that.

Ah cool, that's reassuring. Some of the places I've been to just have a notebook where you write down your name and number, that's the kind of thing that makes me worry everyone in the notebook for the day would be asked to isolate

Contacts are traced if they were:

  1. within 1 meter for more than 1 minute
  2. between 1 and 2 meters for 15 minutes or more
  3. in physical contact of any duration
In the situation you describe you won’t be contacted.
