If you have the app, have you checked in anywhere?

Is that how it works - we need to check in for it to be effective?

I downloaded the app the night it was released. I’ve been to work and large Tesco since but not seen any facility to check-in.

Also, Test results from tests done by PHE labs, NHS Hospitals and surveillance testing by ONS can’t be linked to the app.

I really want the app to be successful in playing a part to reducing numbers/restrictions but can’t see how it will. At least not yet.

Not used it yet

I’ve downloaded it and planned to use it for checking in. But I asked the girl manning the desk at a restaurant yesterday about how it logs you out. It doesn’t. So I would have been scanned in at lunchtime and registered there until midnight, even though I left after 45 mins. I understand if there was a positive test linked to that location, test and trace would get in touch to establish when exactly you were there. But if it’s taking 5-7 days for them to do this, would you be asked to isolate by the app, perhaps unnecessarily? I want this clarifying before I use it!

Checked in at the library. We don't need to at work because we have a register so the company knows who's in.

Currently at DD's swimming lesson, no check in poster to scan but assume it's because they take a register (and book/sign in to use the gym) so they know who's in. Does rely on people informing the venue of a positive test though...

Cancel that, just spotted the QR code so checked in Smile

I checked in at DD’s swimming lesson yesterday, there was a QR code poster on the wall. No one was particularly pointing it out or asking you to do it, it was just the first one I’d seen since downloading the app the day before.

Checked in at work, the pub and the hairdressers

emptyshelvesagain · 26/09/2020 10:40

We have been doing it for weeks in Scotland.

emptyshelvesagain · 26/09/2020 10:41

Sorry posted too soon Blush

It's become second nature to either scan a QR code or give your details to the staff.

wendz86 · 26/09/2020 10:43

Checked in at gym yesterday and bakery / cafe today .

Mydarlingsleepthief · 26/09/2020 10:45

I thought it checked you in automatically wherever you are so I haven’t been checking in anywhere Blush

Checked in when picking up takeaway from the village pub. I assumed booking swim sessions was enough as they'll have my membership details?

We swipe through the turnstile at work too.
