If my child’s bubble is sent home from school, do we all have to self-isolate?

I don’t understand the rules on this. If a dc has no symptoms but their class is sent home due to a positive case in the class, I understand that the dc will have to self isolate, but do we need to stay off work and keep siblings off school too? I can’t actually find guidance on this.

All the guidance I have read says only the child in the bubble has to isolate.

Its just the child that needs to isolate unless you're in certain lockdown areas (well that's a rule in Scotland anyway)

I'd like to know this too, I was actually thinking about this situation today

Tootletum · 25/09/2020 22:58

I think unless they're a confirmed contact, no. These bubbles seem to be up to 300 kids so that would be about 1000 people isolating.

Only the child needs to isolate.

If they develop symptoms, then the test of the family too.

*rest

Child isolates at home.
Rest of the family continue as normal.

If anyone develops a cough or fever, everyone isolates while you get tested.

Phew. Because with 3dc we could be isolating all winter at the rate things are going.

Only the dc. Ridiculous as that is.

StatisticalSense · 25/09/2020 23:37

Only the child isolates, and that means isolates from the rest of the house as well as from others, unless symptoms develop.

no. currently have a child at home isolating but the rest of us are going to school and out to shops etc.
