I think things will hopefully start improving from March/April and we can enjoy a more free and easy summer.

Anyone who doesn’t expect further restrictions for Autumn 2021 is naive in my opinion. Very unlikely a full national vaccine will be rolled out by then.

I know PennyDreadful - I think many people thought the same thing. We moved our planned US trip (holiday of a lifetime for us) from Easter to October thinking it would all be over (or at least under control) by then. We've now moved it again to the end of June '21 but I'm not even sure that's going to be possible either. We've also moved our flights from this summer to February and while 2 weeks ago I would have said we were 50/50 for going, now I'm 80/20 we're not. We are a family who are really thrifty in terms of day to day spending ie house, cars, eating out, hobbies, clothes, tech etc but spend our extra money on holidays so not being able to look forward to them is really hard.

@PennyDreadfuI The road trip involved staying at friends and families along the way instead of hotels and I believe you’re not allowed to mix with other households now.

In the NE you're not. Elsewhere in the UK you can as long as you adhere to the rule of six and are not breaking any local lockdown rules in the area you're staying. So if they were staying with friends and family in, say, Norfolk, you'd be ok.

I'm falsifying to concentrate on Christmas . I have the rest of the ingredients for Delia's Creole Christmas cake coming today. As,well as Covid19 and Brexit I have my mother-in-law slowly dying. Every time the phone rings at an odd time my hearts stops. I'm glad I'm already on anti depressants or Is he needing them.

We don't need a full national vaccine though.

The Metropolitan Opera has cancelled its 2020-21 and won't be reopening until All This is all over, it seems. Until September next year at least.

That's a good deal longer than six months Sad
