Not sure if ds has COVID symptoms

My 12 yr old ds came home from school today complaining of a really sore throat and has had a bit of a cough but not a persistent one. He is achey and has a headache and feeling generally lousy but not a temperature. So he’s not showing the classic signs of COVID but wondering whether it can present itself differently in kids?

Have you checked the back of his throat for signs of tonsillitis? I tend to look with my phone torch for dd as she gets it a couple of times a year and usually presents like this. You van at least rule tonsillitis out if it’s not red / swollen / angry looking / dotty

Although usually presents with temp too

Thanks Daisy - so many kids seem to be off school with seasonal bugs at the moment.

Sorry sent too soon! He’s in bed asleep so I’ll check his throat in the morning. I’m sure it’s not COVID about just wondered if it might present itself in kids

It sounds like it’s worth getting a test to me, the aches are a symptom and it sounds more than the sore throat/ cold virus going round

MJMG2015 · 23/09/2020 21:05

Could be, yes, worth a test.

Headaches
Aches
Sore throat
Episodes of coughing

Hope you can get a test without too much trouble!
