Toddler with snotty nose making him cough

My almost 2 year old DS is very snotty. I actually suspect it’s his final teeth coming in as he’s quite dribbly too. He always gets a red ear and cheek when teething too and he has both.
Anyway he’s coughed a handful of times today, but they sound like when dribble or snot go down the throat and he has to cough it up.
He doesn’t have a temperature.
He’s due at nursery tomorrow as I only work two days a week at the moment, so he’s in tomorrow and Thursday.
I really really don’t think it’s Covid, so I think getting a test would be a waste. I also want to go to work/him to nursery as he’s only just settling there.

Can anyone give me any advice? I can’t believe I’ll be feeling like this every few weeks with a toddler. And wondering what to do if he gets like this. It’s a really depressing thought going forward.

I would ring the nursery to see what they say and it gives them a heads up. Better to do that than turn up at nursery to be told he can't come in or if they feel he needs a test.

Ring them tomorrow or this evening?

I feel like maybe I should wait and see how he is in the morning.
