I am so confused.

That all depends on where you live, your personal circs, office size, method of transport, mental health and wellbeing etc. There isn't a one size fits all answer.

Sorry - I meant officially - Boris said it was safe to go back, didn't he? Or am I misremembering that?

Time is playing tricks on me again.

I'm sure he said it was safe for everyone to go back, just a week or two ago. How was that safe then - when lockdown needs to come in to place again now ...

The lockdown will be relating to social contact between households. Work won’t be affected.

Have they announced a new lockdown though?

Dustballs · 21/09/2020 14:51

So school is safe. Going to the office is safe. Using the gym, shops, dentist and all other businesses are safe ...

We won't catch Covid in those environments?

I don’t think offices are necessarily going to close now.

I’m not sure offices are being touted as a major source of spread.

Nobody could ever guarantee 100% safety

He wants people to go back to work so that redundancies at companies like Pret are minimized.

Some people worked through the pandemic and continue to do so. All they can do is hope that their workplaces are COVID secure and take precautions like wash hands, wear a mask etc

They've not announced a lockdown but Whitty and Valance and said that we will lose some freedoms in order to slow the spread.

When did anyone say anything was safe, life has to go and we have to learn to live in a new way taking the precautions that surely we all know by now.

It amazes me that common sense seems to have totally disappeared for so many people.

You know how what you need to do to minimise risk, do those things, apply what you know to your specific circumstances and act accordingly

Yes, it's a pandemic but it's been going on long enough now that surely you know what to do.

Quartz2208 · 21/09/2020 14:57

Its not about where is safe - in effect nowhere is safe. It is about limiting spread balanced against the economy.

So yes of course you can catch COVID in those environments but those places are necessary to keep going for other reasons.

Those places have all put in measures to minimise the risk.

Nothing is risk free.
