Yes. Major cold going round.

I've had it, my brothers family have all had it and some of their friends.

Starts like laryngitis. Sore throat, burning trachea, headache, blocked nose, cough (but a productive one)

I couldn't get a test but my brother did and was covid negative.

Definitely yes! My two younger ones has it earlier this week, I then caught it just before weekend. Sore throat, headache, sneezing now have blocked nose that I keep needing to blow!
I still have Covid antibodies as of 3 weeks ago so I am pretty sure this is a normal cold.
Also couple of kids who had the cold in my youngest class (he is the one who brought cold home to us) had a covid test and it was negative.

Jods90 · 20/09/2020 22:50

Yep, our family has had an awful virus that's still lingering now after two weeks. Me, DP, our two and my two DSC all had it.

Sore throat, blocked but runny nose, hacking productive cough, fatigue, swollen glands and I went semi deaf in one ear for a few days.

Same as above, I also have antibodies for covid and tested positive some months ago so it's incredibly unlikely to be that again.

This was surprisingly more unpleasant than the covid for me (I'm not taking away from the experiences of people who suffered badly with covid)

No.
There. Is. Only. Coronavirus.

All other disease has gone.

dolliemixture · 20/09/2020 22:52

Surely at any given time there are various colds going round? I feel like when September hits and the kids go to school we end up with a new cold or horrible flu-like illness any other week :(

ProfessorPootle · 20/09/2020 22:53

Yes, I have strep throat, no idea how I got it as not been anywhere or near anyone. I do get tonsillitis regularly without anyone else getting ill but this is worse. It’s an awful sore throat, difficulty swallowing although started with tight chest/wheezing then massively swollen tonsils/ behind tonsils/ back of throat with white spots. Temperature, runny then blocked nose and productive cough. Exhausted all the time. I’ve been ill for 5 days, according to GP it’s no longer contagious after taking antibiotics for 24hrs. Have 10 days worth, 8 tablets a day.

Thanks. I find it incredible that using hand gel x100000 a day, wearing a face shield, wiping down all computers copiers etc at work that I could still get a cold!!

Yes quite. I've been extremely careful and still ended up with a bug from hell.

I'm still coughing (and choking!) two weeks later and getting the most damning of looks from people outside.

Even if it were covid (It's not) i would be fine to return to work and go shopping by now, taking all nessecary precautions.

People really are acting like all the 'other' illnesses no longer exist and absolutely everything is covid (not you btw OP)
